Staff was ok - I asked for lotion and none available so weird for me as it’s a minimal amenity for me. There was luggage hold for the day so that was nice -they did have cute yukatas - area was great as it’s central but definitely loud as it’s on a Main Street so you hear drunks and cars - needed ear buds to sleep.

This is a great location for exploring Kyoto, walkable to great restaurants and shops and many of the tourist sites including temples and shrines. The room was simple, clean, comfortable. The self-service laundry was great. It felt safe and convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

As always this hotel hasn’t updated the room decor and furniture. The walls were stained with a various colours of fluid. Very minimal amenities. However the location was great and hotel staff were very nice.

Clean hotel with helpful staff. Easy to book and staff worked well with someone with minimal Japanese language knowledge. Area is perfect, with a 10 minute walk to metro lines and in the heart of Gion. Would stay again!

This hotel was a pleasant surprise after staying at a more expensive hotel in the heart of Shibuya. APA Gion is located in a prime location with many walkable historical landmarks, outdoor markets, and premium dining and shopping areas. The rooms look brand new and ours featured a king sized bed (rare in Japan), built-in desk, dining table and bench area. Yes, the bathrooms are small but they are very clean and convenient. Lots of toiletries are provided inside your room as well as a fridge, kettle, Starbucks Keurig type machine which they provided daily pods for as well as clean robes, and slippers. The staff was super friendly and spoke English, and offered pre and post checkin/checkout luggage hold. Would definitely stay here again!

After reading other reviews about this APA was a bit hesitant but decided to go with it for the proximity to many attractions. This hotel was perfect for our needs. Stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the stay. Clean, quiet, excellent location. Had a king bed - super spacious for Japan standards. Would definitely stay there again!

We reserved a non-smoking room for one night and arrived at night. We were given a smoking room. We realized this when woke extremely congested in the middle of the night. When we complained, we were met with indifference and no apology. Overall, the rooms are extremely small with minimal services and are nothing special. Bathroom entry is a tripping hazard and inside is tight with little space for toiletries. No space for anything more than a day or 2. Room was only clean on the surface,floors were dirty. Breakfast was better than room and the breakfast staff allowed us to start early so we could make our train.
