Lovely house in a fabulous location
My husband and I spent a wonderful week in this lovely house in the heart of the Dordogne. On arrival we had a warm welcome from the owners, John and Tina, who had clearly put a lot of thought into creating this lovely house and equipping it so well for visitors. The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could imagine and there are many outdoor spaces to enjoy the sunshine or find a shady spot for an evening drink. The house is situated in the centre of a lot of the main attractions of the region. La Roque Gageac is a beautiful village, accessible on foot in 10 minutes, with some nice restaurants, bars and shops. Close by are castles, caves, gardens and canoeing as well as pretty towns and villages, such as Sarlat and Domme. You will need a car to get the best from this area and appreciate the beauty of the Dordogne, but we could have easily spent the time relaxing at this lovely house and enjoying the views.

Fairytale Setting!
We loved our time at La Roque Gageac and Le Coin Tranquille! Initially hard to find but John came and rescued us. Also it is a hair raising drive on the narrow, narrow hills but we also adjusted to that! The house is so charming on the outside and so modern on the inside - perfect! The layout is a little strange, such as you have to walk through the upstairs bedroom to get to the living room and balcony but you are in a medieval village, after all! We never did figure out how to shower in the master without getting the floor wet - maybe they will enclose the shower a little better. Recommend hanging your clothes outside on the terrace clothesline to dry... it is much faster than the dryer! Also recommend time on the river kayaking or swimming. Lots of cool things to see and do in the area! Loved the night we had dinner in Domme. Wish the Thai place would've been open in Cenac because we were tired of restaurants that offered all the same thing by the end of the week! Enjoyed going to the store in Cenac (the shoppie!), the outdoor market in Gageac, and clothes shopping in Gageac. Also of course had ice cream every day! Also enjoyed walking down the hill for coffee every day. What a view! What a charming village!!

Tina and John have done an amazing job, with the renovation of this beautiful house. We loved it.
Tina and John were very welcoming. The house is a great base to explore the local area. For anyone looking at the pictures and thinking about booking, it really is as good as it looks. We spent every evening on the covered roof terrace and breakfasts on the garden terrace. Both have amazing views over the valley. 5/10 minute walk down in to the village where there are a number of very good, reasonably priced restaurants. Recommend visiting Sarlat market on a Saturday, the villages of Domme, Beynac, Castlenaud and a canoe trip on the river is a must. Had four nights there but wish it was longer.
