A Private Paradise on the Ocean!
This unique beach house, is situated at the beginning of Mayungu Beach, 6 km of white sand beach ending in Watamu. It is the only house actually on the beach for many miles in any direction.
The Beach House works best with 10 guests, but we can stretch that to a comfortable 12 or even a single one off overnight only 22. Any requirement over x 10 needs to be advised in advance.
The three-floor beach house is located on a private ten-acre walled estate and front onto Mayungu Beach and beautiful turquoise blue inner reef at Leopard Point. The beach is protected by a reef from the Indian Ocean and is perfect snorkelling and wind surfing territory.
The house comes with three permanent staff including a Housekeeper & Houseboy, who provide 24 hour security 7 days a week alongside out x 3 dogs
Malindi and Watamu are rightly world famous for their deep-sea fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. There are several world class wind and kite surfing sites with 5 minutes drive of the house as well.
The Beach House is situated on the edge of the national marine park which includes the locally famous âSardinia Dueâ sandbanks, where a boat picnic is a good way to spend part of the day.
Swimming with dolphins and the occasional whale shark is a short boat ride away. Whether youâd like a luxury spa, a wild life safari, an alternative culture tour, a relaxing massage, a deep sea fishing trip, a celebration party, boat charter, wind and kite surfing or snorkelling, everything is possible, and we will be happy to help you organize it.
The house is two hours from East Tsavo, a national game reserve, or just twenty minutes from the local bird and butterfly sanctuary. The Gede Ruins and Mida Creek are 30 minutes away. There are day trips available to Che Shale and the Sabaki River, Robinson Island and Wasini Island are is just twenty minutes by chartered aircraft from Malindi Airport.
The Beach House comes with an excellent housekeeper, Rehema. She will organise your shopping trips to town and act as your guide with advice on where to go.. She will do all your laundry on request. She is a great cook with countless reviews and will turn her hand to anything you know the recipe for. Ali, the houseboy is there to help you in any way possible. He is your butler, waiter, and grill man! Ask Ali the evening before if you want fresh fish or lobster or even a particular flower in your room. Samuel provides overnight security, backed up by Monster, Fang & Daisy our house dogs.
The property is swept through, cleaned and the beds made everyday. Towels & linens are changed every third day. Should you require extra fresh sheets or towels just ask Rehema.
The Beach House is mainly solar powered with back up supplied by the mains supply. We have ample freezer space if required.
Self drive cars and 4x4's are available for hire in Malindi Town. Local motor bikes or Tuks Tuks are available at short notice for trips into town or down the beach.
There is a nine hole Golf Course in Malindi approximately 15km from the Beach House.
This was a fantastic experience. The beach house is huge and very comfy - plenty of space for my husband and I, our two sons, our daughter in law, my brother, his wife and daughter, and my two sisters. Me and my husband stayed in the inside/outside room where we could decide whether to sleep indoors or under the stars with only a mosquito net in between. We were steps from a non-crowded beach on the Indian Ocean and could relax in the sun and sand all day and rest on the chairs and beds back at the house. There was even a pool. Upstairs, there was an open air common room where we could talk and play games. Rehema and her team (Ali and Samuel) kept the place in great order. She is a fantastic cook and made the best samosas weâve ever had. Very highly recommended!
My Family and Friends a group of 8 stayed at the beach house for 4 nights. It was unforgettable and one of the most positive core experiences we have had. The house is as described. For architectural aficionados the house design which blends so seamlessly into the natural geography of the area and remains cool even in the often blazing Malindi heat is an additional interest. it gives new meaning of bed to beach! Tastefully furnished with very functional rooms that are spacious and clean. However the best part was the staff and the food. Rehema and Ali are a credit to this House. The house was clean the staff present helpful and receptive. Rehema's food a delightful experience! We felt welcome and accommodated. Rory the owner was pleasant and also very responsive. He offered assistance at all hours and kept us informed. I highly recommend the Beach House.
Located of the house is fantastic, on the beach next to a calm and warm sea perfect for toddlers!
House was spacious and offred some nice rooms.
The stairs were not convenient, very steep and high, not nice for a toddler or high heels.
Chef cooks very well but you really have to double check what you agreed with her every day.
Covid measures were unfortunately ignored.
Hygiene was poor in the kitchen. House in general was dusty and had sticky railings along the stairs etc. Compound was messy with lots of debris next to the house and servant quarters.
Great experience overall and would likely book again if in town.
Sian who manages this property was very helpful and informative. Rehema and Ali were great hosts and very accommodating from before we arrived till even after we left! The house was pretty clean (considering it is on the beach and everything) and atmosphere was amazing. We had some issues with the wifi but it was no big deal since we were there to chill anyway. There were a few things we noticed that was not available despite the listing descriptions, such as bottled waters, paper towels, washing machine, etc., so we had to spend a little extra time running errands once we got there. However, it was nice of Rehema, Ali, and Samuel to help us with basically whatever we needed, including groceries, etc. They helped us find fresh produce at a great price and even showed us where to get fresh octopus and helped us with grilling it! The place could use one more inside bathroom for the people staying in the tower room, but otherwise easily accommodated the 9 adults and 2 kids we had comfortably. I'd say this was overall a wonderful experience and we would probably book this place again if we went back to Malindi. My advice would be to talk to Sian and Rehema at least a couple of weeks in advance to work out the details. They were great!
