This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Kentucky. IT is new-old construction taking over a year to build. Construction finish date was February 6th 2015. It is a sister cabin to 'Away from it All' vrbo-480579 which many of you have had the pleasure of staying in. The cabin is model pre-civil war construction, it was reconstructed using modern mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits near the end of a private dirt and gravel road behind a locked gate. Fenced yard for your doggies! Secluded is an understatement. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting large covered front porch with swing and with a larger open uncovered front porch with ample log furniture where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains three Queen Beds. The Master Bedroom downstairs is off of the Great-room and is garnered with mountain views through perfectly placed casement windows and King Bed, situated perfectly so that you can see the woods and sunrise from the bed. Off of the Master Bedroom is a Beautiful Master bath with stone walk in shower and copper slipper tub, set below a large window overlooking the woods. All sinks were imported from a copper-smith in Mexico. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer/microwave and all cooking supplies you will need. One Bathroom Downstairs off of the Great-room with a combo-shower and bath, and a Master Bath off of the Master Bedroom with a Walk in Stone Shower, and Large Copper Slipper Tub. High Efficiency Kenmore Washer and Dryer. 2 Flat Screen TV's up and downstairs with Roku/DVD/WII/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Land-line phone is present. Cell phone coverage is available from the front porch though spotty at times. I-phones work great through I-message or KIK/any internet messaging service. There is a Master Bedroom that overlooks a large elevated back porch over the river canyon and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 5 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There is a fire-pit and picnic area above the river, and a built in gravel trail with staircases to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone, AL and 15 minutes from Fort Payne, AL for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains. There is a Fenced yard on the side of house for pets. The Cabin is behind a locked gate on a private road, it is very secluded. This place was a solid 10/10! It had everything we needed for a 5 day trip. Very clean, very dog friendly. We stayed for our daughters spring break and would definitely love to come back. Views were stunning!
All the other positive reviews were accurate; the property was immaculately clean and it was a beautiful location. It was well stocked and comfortable. A wonderful place to spend a few days with family!
Off the beaten path, but easy to get to. A very Beautiful property with river access and the cabin. Family loved everything and cabin and grounds were very well kept. Super responsive owners and check in and out was no problem. Will be back soon. TY so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin.
Excellent stay. Property was as described. Really enjoyed walking down to the river and the screen porch. Beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Kitchen was equipped with all essentials that you would need for light meals. The view from the property is absolutely amazing with the the water right in the backyard.
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the perfect escape from reality. From the moment we walked in, we could tell how much care goes into this cabin. Everything was spotless, welcoming, and so thoughtfully prepared for us.The views are incredible. We loved starting our mornings looking out the windows from the bed or sitting on the patio with coffee. Our afternoons were spent exploring and hiking nearby, and our evenings were shared under the stars relaxing in the hot tub. The copper tub even had us joking about doing a bathroom remodel at home! Our almost 11-year-old border collie, Tux, felt right at home too. We set his bed up in front of the fireplace and he happily kept watch over us and joined in on our little adventures.Thank you a million times over for such an amazing stay and memories that will last a lifetime. We will always remember our honeymoon here.â Mr. & Mrs. Jacobs ( Tux)
Felt like home! Everything was wonderful! The property was beautiful and the cabin was clean! The sound of the water rushing below the cabin was so relaxing!
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at this amazing cabin It was exactly where we needed to be to get rest but also a bit of adventure as well. The weather was perfect and the river was flowing where we could hear and see it from the house. It's a bit of a walk down and back up, but there is a bench in the middle if you need to rest. I'm VERY picky on beds, and I have to say that we slept better than we have in quite a while. The bed was soft but supportive. The hot tub was perfect after doing some hiking. This was also one of the cleanest homes inside and out that we've stayed at. The outdoor furniture was really nice and clean too. You are way out, but we felt completely safe and couldn't see any other cabins through the trees. Robert was a great host. We will absolutely be back because we've stayed all around the area and this has become our new favorite
Great CLEAN cabin with wonderful outside decks and all the amenities needed inside! Beautiful views and sounds from the river below that was in walking distance.
Loved everything about the place. The creek/walk down path behind the house was a secret delight. We will be back for our anniversary in October! Our dogs loved the experience as well! We can't wait to be back!!! We also recommend the wildflower cafe as well! The peanut butter pie was to die for!
