How close is The Maidstone New Orleans to the airport?
The Maidstone New Orleans is 12.7 mi (19-min drive) away from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans Intl. Airport (MSY) airport, the closest popular airport to the property.
I must begin by saying that The Maidstone is a beautiful boutique hotel. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the propertyâs charming exterior and overall aesthetic. Unfortunately, we did not stay even one night.
When we checked in on Friday evening, we were informed of the hotel details, but soon realized that the room was not adequate for our family of four or our needs. We immediately requested an upgrade; however, the staff explained that those rooms were unavailable because they hadnât been cleaned due to staffing shortages.
We also inquired about basic amenities such as irons and ironing boards, food storage and heating options, and televisions. We even suggested that the hotel keep at least a few irons and boards on hand for guests who request them. While the design and atmosphere are thoughtfully curated, the property appears to be a startup that focused heavily on aesthetics but overlooked key aspects of functionality, planning, and guest comfort.
The manager assured us that Sundayâs checkout would be refunded since we canceled that night upon arrival. However, today we received an email from Hotels.com stating that The Maidstone never responded to their communication, and both nights are still being charged.
To the owners, my advice would be to position this property as a wellness retreat or an unplugged adults-only stay, as it is not currently suitable for families. I would also strongly recommend bringing in a business manager who can balance design & operations
Barely anything in walking distance -- there are zero on property amenities. There is no daily cleaning. The room had lots of residuals of past guests (used towel hanging in bathroom, un-vacuumed floor). Rooms and "lobby" and pool area well designed, but that's all it has going for it.
Rooms did not have TVs, and bathrooms were tiny. There was no cups, shampoo, blanket, etc. in the room. You cannot get into the property after midnight too.
This hotel was excellent overall. I was pleasantly suprised as I was in town for a project and booked a last second one night stay as it was very close. The outdoor areas are amazing, pool is central to the whole space, very clean and tranquil.
I was especially drawn to the modern-retro design of the spaces and decor. The bar/check-in area definitely reminded me of places I had been as a child, but still created an atmosphere that invited me to relax and have a drink.
The rooms keep this same vibe going though there was not a tv in my room (i assume this was intentional). The bathroom, while on the small side, was intentionally designed and the water pressure was AMAZING! ( a definite plus).
The only significant criticism I have is that while trying to leave to get breakfast, I was informed by the overnight security guard that he was leaving (about 7ish I think) and that nobody would be there to let me back in until after 9 when the staff showed up. My intention was to grab breakfast then come back. So i ended up packing my stuff and leaving early so as not to be sitting outside unable to return to my room.
I would highly recommend this space and look forward to coming back!
