The property is well maintained and very clean. Everything we needed was there. It is down a long dirt road but road is in fairly good shape. The one room with single beds was uncomfortable for those using it. However, all other rooms and beds were great. There are some hiking trails around Rangeley.
Overall great experience. The house is excellent, plenty of places for people to sleep, beautiful back yard with room for activities. Private dock for boating and water sports. Would definitely rent this property again.
We loved our stay at On the Rocks. The house was just as pictured and the views from the house and beach are incredible. When we visited (in early June) there were no neighbors in sight and we practically had the lake to ourselves! There were just 5 adults in our group so we had more than enough room. It's worth noting that one of the twin bedrooms is accessible only through another bedroom - this wasn't an issue for us but could be for others. We rented a pontoon boat and kayaks and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lake, which is very large, very clean and not too cold even early in the season. Note: bring LOTS of bug spray!! We enjoyed the fire pit and private beach (electricity/lights at the beach were an added bonus), as well as the fireplace when it rained the first day. The location is very remote, so great for an "escape" from the city. However, we were dismayed to find there was no cell service at the house (the fact that a landline phone is advertised should have been a clue, I suppose), and the lack of WiFi was an inconvenience. Other than that, our only gripe was that the information in the booklet the rental agency provided was generic to all their rental properties rather than house-specific and we would have appreciated more details/instructions such as where to leave trash when we left, etc. We called the agency with a few questions and while they were friendly and courteous they didn't seem to have a lot of info on the house itself. The process for picking up/dropping off keys was extremely easy (if a tad inconvenient since it added time to our drive). Overall, it's an amazing place and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
