Good room while the hotel itself is in disrepair

Pros: Rooms were clean
Cons: Not sure as the hotel itself seems to be in a state of decline...whether that be through owners who no longer care about the facility or no customers.
Location: Restaurants and downtown Ottawa.
I booked two rooms for my family for an overnight stay in the Ottawa area. Looking online the hotel seemed great...waterpark, nice rooms and breakfast included. While the rooms were clean, tidy and very comfortable, the hotel itself is in a state of decline and disrepair. The grounds are un-kept, the parking garage is open on some levels and closed due to lack of maintenance on others, the waterpark itself was less than appealing with missing tiles, paint falling off the walls and ceiling, etc. As for the free breakfast, everyone was not impressed by a limited selection of cereal, toast and muffins....not to mention only having paper plates, cups and plastic utensils. The only perk was that the coffee was good. We needed to stop at a local restaurant and have a real breakfast. I have been to many Travelodge locations and this by far has been the worst in terms of the overall experience. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Comfortable Stay

My mother-in-law, 3 year old son and I stayed here for one night as she had a early morning flight to catch. I found the location very convenient, there was a selection of restaurants in the area and a Shoppers Drug Mart just down the street. I found the beds extremely comfortable and it was very quiet being a Monday night. Due to being a week night the wave pool area was only open certain hours as there are lifeguards on duty, so I found that a little inconvenient that we couldn't go swimming as soon as we arrived, but totally understand that during the week it isn't busy. Our bathtub was a little rusty around the drain but the room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again for an overnight stay without hesitation.

Too far, too old, too shabby.

$20 cab ride from the train station, this hotel was not at all in a good location. Room was fine, ice machine did not not on my floor. Swimming pool in centre court of hotel meant loud action til about 10pm.

if i could rate it lower, i would

By far, the worst hotel i've ever had the misfortune to stay at. I will never stay at a travelodge ever again. I would sleep in tent before I stay at another one. Spend a little more and go to a real hotel.

not bad for the money, but need to improve in cleanliness

Cons: Poor breakfast
We stayed one night with kids. room condition was fine. but there were couple of things that need to be improved especially cleanliness,,there were lots of black things (I don't know exactly what it is,,) in the indoor pool water..yuck,, my child got scratched and bleeding from the water slided but they were unable to provide first aid kit right away which is against law. Next morning, we had a breakfast in the hotel with buffet, but lots of plates were not washed properly (lots of food stain,,). They do need to pay attention to cleanliness which is one of the majority factor in hotel.

Will not stay here again

Cons: rude staff
Quality fair but I've paid the same pricing for downtown Ottawa hotels with more to offer. The staff were not helpful when I attempted to deal with a holding charge on my VISA telling me that it was my bank that held the charge for a number of days. In actual fact, VISA advised that the hotel held the charge for 3 days in order to ensure that there was no damage to the room and for incidental charges. As my son pointed out - we had to be out by 12 noon - they had plenty of time to assess for any incidental charges and withdraw from my credit card. I found the staff at the front desk quite condescending and had to spend my time, on my cell phone, dealing with the issue. Never again...

It’s a really old hotel. It needs to be torn down and rebuild. The rooms are very musty and smell like an old damp basement that’s over 100 years old. The room was clean but are very outdated with very old carpeted floor. The room door let’s in a lot of the hallway light and you can hear people in the hallways as if they are in the room with you! Way overpriced for what you get and you have to pay to access the swimming pool.

Location: close to our family, very conveniently located for us
Continental breakfast was dissapointing, neighbours were very noisy (hard to sleep with constant doors slamming and people shouting in the hallway), bathrooms should be renovated - water leaking everywhere after a shower - takes long for hot water to warm up in faucet. Lighting should be better in the rooms. Staff is very kind and respectful and very helpful.
