Well-equipped and comfortably furnished, it has five en-suite bedrooms and will equally suit couples or family groups. Enjoy being close to all the village amenities with the added bonus of having a peaceful large garden to the rear of the property with views across open fields. Just a short walk will take you to the shore of Ullswater where there are all year round regular steamers travelling the sinuous length of the lake, calling at Howton on the way south to Glenridding. Water sports, cycling and walking are all popular activities and whichever you choose you’ll be amazed by the spectacular scenery which Wordsworth called ‘the happiest combination of beauty and grandeur’. South of the lake you can drive over the scenic Kirkstone Pass which takes you down into the popular village of Ambleside and on to Windermere. The traditional market town of Penrith with a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants is 6 miles. Shops and pubs 30 yards.

Perfect for a large group

Huge house with 5 large bedrooms each with on-suite. Large dining room with a table easily seating 12 adults. Comfortable lounge, plenty of seats and a kitchen with an island. Ample parking and lovely rear garden. We found the house very clean and our host’s very helpful. The village has 4 great pubs serving breakfast, lunches and dinner. Perfect location to explore the Lakes.

Large comfortable house, easily accomodated family of 7 in five double bedrooms. Friendly owner next door. Nice having ensuite facilities for each room. Was pleased to see the house was clean and well maintained. Spacious living area downstairs. Large garden with a trampoline the youngest memebers of our group enjoyed. Only bug bear was wifi strength, which was poor throughout the property. Not much to do in Pooley Bridge: a few small shops, a couple of pubs and a tea room, but a convenient place from which to explore the Ullswater area. This is our ninth family holiday and the nicest house we have stayed in. Owners were lovely Holly House was clean, spacious and very comfortable with a lovely patio area. Pooley Bridge was nice and I am sure will improve once the bridge is open but would have liked a little more to do, i.e. a few more shops, places to eat and perhaps a coffee shop and a fish and chip shop to give the place a bit more atmosphere. Perfect house and perfect location. We stayed 3 nights. Our second day summed up what an awesome place this is...breakfast at a local cafe, steamer on a crisp autumn day to Aira Force, walk around the waterfalls in the autumn colours, back to Pooley Bridge, amazing Sunday lunch at The Sun Inn, another walk up the big hill across the bridge, back down to the village for ice cream and beers, back to the snuggly house for Harry Potter and red wine. Kids loved it, we loved it, will be coming back. 😀😀😀

Lovely house with a great downstairs living area....two large rooms for eight people to comfortably eat and relax in. The five bedrooms were all very comfortable and each having a bathroom helped get everyone out the door that much quicker on a morning. It will always rain a little...or a lot in The Lakes so having a base that acts as a home from home is a big asset. If you were looking for improvements....the kitchen is large but lacks sufficient food storage areas and none of the bedrooms had a full wardrobe. All in all we would revisit in a heartbeat.
