Casa Viga Grande (The House-with-the-Massive-Beams) is tucked into a historically authentic and quiet neighborhood above Canyon Road --Santa Fe's prestigious art and gallery district. Winding, narrow streets are reminiscent of Old Europe.

This air-conditioned 1600 square foot Southwest Style Casa offers all the conveniences and charm of contemporary Santa Fe. The spaciousness of high, massive, viga-beam ceilings provide a counterpoint to the rich detail of decor. Everywhere, fine original art and thoughtfully placed artifacts meet the eye.

One uniquely appealing aspect of Viga Grande is the layout. Two completely separate and spacious bedroom suites each have their own private stone-tiled baths. As such, two couples find the equivalency between suites to be appealing. While one suite is more spacious internally; the other opens out onto its own private patio.

The well appointed kitchen features state-of-the-art appliances; double french doors unite the dining area with a second very private patio and gated garden.

The two bathrooms are beautiful and modern, with high-end tile and fixtures. The master bath has two sinks, a separate double-headed shower, and a large bathtub.

A museum-brick drive greets guests as they enter the property --which is virtually hidden behind a hand-forged iron gate. There is off-street parking for two-to-three vehicles. The fire pit on the back patio works intermittently and therefore should not be considered part of the rental.

Once in the famed Canyon Road gallery district of Santa Fe, the 3 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) to Viga Grande begins by following the historically soulful and nourishing Acequia Madre waterway (lovingly referred to by locals as 'The Mother Ditch') and then winding uphill through some of Santa Fe's most charming residential areas.

A free shuttle is also available on Canyon Road, making it easy to explore many other locations in Santa Fe -- including the Rail Yard District.

We really enjoyed our stay at this pretty 2 BR/BA home just outside of downtown Santa Fe. It was very spacious and well equipped with the items we needed. Check-in and check-out procedures were easy. Clear instructions for wifi and a/c units. Definitely would return to stay here. We were about 8 minutes drive time to La Fonda and easy parking.

Secluded beautiful quiet casita

Stayed here with my mother for a long weekend. Everything was lovely: the kitchen was well appointed, rooms were clean with beautiful local art, and the garden was just starting to bloom. The place had everything we needed and was delightfully quiet in the evenings. Close to everything we wanted to do. Great communication from the hosts! This is a lovely, quiet, clean house in a very convenient, nice part of town. The kitchen is great, really well-stocked with quality cookware, unusual in a rental. The drawback for me was I found the beds (and pillows) to be quite uncomfortable and in need of upgrading.

Beautiful house that's perfect for two couples. House has everything you need and we especially appreciated the outside sitting areas. Close to the Canyon Rd. galleries, but some steep hills on the walk, so we didn't walk as much as planned with the heat of August. Would definitely recommend highly to others!

Charming home, just blocks from Canyon Road

Our group of two couples truly enjoyed our stay at this historic property, situated between Canyon Road and Museum Hill. The home was beautifully decorated, updated and well equipped with things like a six burner Wolf range, beautiful riginal artwork and lighting. We enjoyed the small seating area outside, with BBQ, firepit, and the like. We highly recommend it.

Wonderful, Traditional Santa Fe Home

We were in Santa Fe to visit our family who live on the Eastside. This property was perfect for my husband and I traveling with our adult daughter. The home is also conveniently located for tourists as it is within walking distance of Museum Hill and the Canyon Rd. gallery and arts district. The home is clean, thoughtfully layed-out, and well appointed. We found it has several comfortable areas to relax and enjoy the lovely Santa Fe atmosphere, both inside and outside the home. It seems ideal for either a short- or much longer-term visit. We will not hesitate to return to this guest house if we are ever lucky enough to find it available again!

The place was wonderful. Very comfortable, very well equipped and very quiet. Everything was spotless throughout. All furnishing and appliances were high end and well maintained. We didn't use any of the outside features, but everything inside was perfect including great internet service. Communication with the owner was quick and very helpful. Loved it and this will be our go-to place in the future.
