Palazzo de Pando is a noble residence whose original core dates back to 1086, located in Scala, just a few steps from the famous Ravello and set in the spectacular setting of the Amalfi Coast.
The building, enlarged and remodelled several times, still constitutes today a perfect blend between a rural villa and a town house, the result of an encounter between the needs of land management and agricultural production and those of residence and leisure for a noble family.
The sumptuous palace, built from 1086 onwards, also known as Casa Romano, is located in the Campoleone district, in a dominant position overlooking the coast and towards Ravello to the east, whilst to the west it overlooks the Lattari mountains.
The history of Scala is closely linked to Amalfi and the Maritime Republic, and in the Middle Ages, through textile trade, it reached great economic prosperity.
That it was a small but important city is confirmed by the religious buildings and palaces that still exist today, which are full of historical and artistic interest and are objects of appeal for both tourists and scholars. The palace itself preserves a family chapel with a rectangular floor plan and a sail-shaped roof with two doors, one facing the garden, below the small loggia, and the other providing access to a hall.
A comfortable and spacious staircase leads to the upper floors where there is a noble apartment, composed of a series of rooms arranged in sequence, with a rectangular floor plan, with a pavilion roof. We also find large stone halls with star vaults, which will later be converted into a restaurant.
The second floor of the palace, with access from the rear garden via external staircase, houses De Pando Panoramic Suites 1086, a luxury accommodation facility open to the public in June 2025.
All suites with sea views are equipped with high-speed wi-fi connection, air conditioning, mini fridge with guest amenities, towels, high-quality bed linen.
The rooms, all suites with excellent finishes, inspired by the colours of the sea and the majolica of nearby Vietri, each feature a private en-suite bathroom with shower or bathtub, private external terrace with sea view furnished with a small table, chairs and rocking chair. The facility also has an outdoor swimming pool equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, spacious garden and car park.
