Room and fittings were a little dated and the amenities limited, particularly the elevators. However, the front desk and restaurant staff in the hotel were extremely polite, friendly and accommodating and the location was ideal for first-time visitors to Shanghai.

Location was very good and near to attractions, with good tea and coffee at the lobby. take note that the room was we had was very cold thou (18c max in winter) and the bathroom door could not be closed, The hotel tried, but could not fix the situation, nor change rooms maybe due to high occupancy. I stayed in November, 2025. The front desk staff were amazing, especially Alan, who helped me with technology issues. The room was nice and clean. There was soap, shampoo, bodywash. There was a kettle, but no safe. The AC wasn't working but I got a fan, which worked well. It looked like the shower had leaked at one point, as the floor on the room-side of the shower was 'crunchy' (had some give when I walked on it). There was water and some cans of pop in the fridge, and teas and coffee. The room (1703) was quiet. There was construction across the street, but I didn't really hear it. I tried to go to the spa on numerous occasions, but it was never open/the women in the spa waved me away. The metro station was about a 5 minute walk, and YuYuen garden was a little further. Also, the hotel is not accessible. There is a steep ramp in the front for luggage, but otherwise, there are stairs that must be navigated. There was a good variety of western and Chinese foods for breakfast. I recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Clean room and helpful staff. Hotel is a short walk from Yu Gardens Metro station (line 10 or 14) exit 4, once out from exit 4, turn left and hotel is 1 block away. Only 10 minutes walk to Yu Garden. Room don’t have safe box, need to ask and they will bring one to the room.

This is my second time staying at SSAW Hotel! I’ve stayed at both their Shanghai and Hongkou branches, and both experiences were amazing. The rooms are very clean, and the service is excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Shanghai. It’s in a great location and conveniently close to the metro.

The room was clean, however, the kettle was not. There was a thick lime scale at the bottle of the kettle and was not clean for the next user. I tried to clean it by scrapping but the kettle got worst that I dared not use it for boiling.

Breakfast had a large variety of options, asian and western. Property was beside a metro station which made getting around the city easy. The Bund was a short walk and so was Nanjing Rd. The shopping area to the north on Huahai Rd was a 10 minute walk. Definitely a great location. Staff was excellent, very helpful.

I can’t understand how a hotel cannot allow guests to use air conditioning. Room was too hot and couldn’t sleep well. Only opening gym at 9am makes no sense. Many need the gym early before breakfast and going to work. 6am at least. If a hotel puts hard floors in their rooms it means they haven’t stayed in their own rooms to experience how loud hard floors sound from the people above. Loud all night and couldn’t sleep. It may look nice but they are impractical.

I absolutely loved my stay here in China. The hotel's location was fantastic and having a small convenience store right next to it was very helpful. The room I stayed in was great with no issues and a fantastic View. The staff was absolutely amazing and very helpful. They assisted me with obtaining items I needed as well as assisting me in receiving packages from friends. The hotel itself is well as the meals it offered were all amazingly affordable. The meals were also very delicious as well as very high quality. Staying here really allowed me to enjoy my trip to China. I plan on returning in the future.
