Cheap and convenient

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Right next to Chinatown, you can either take a 12 minutes walk or take to 3 minute bus to downtown core. The only cons is where the hotel is located. It's on Hastings St. so there are quite a lot of homeless folks. They won't really bother you.

pretty old style hotel in a bad spot

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Noisy, Poor breakfast, unsafe neighbourhood
This hotel is located in the hardened downtown east side. If you have a family and are looking somewhere to stay on a vacation, this place is not for you. The Vancouver downtown east side especially, east hastings is notorious for (since i cannot say the word on this site) people who sell themselves and use various substances that are illegal, ect. Also it was noisy outside with sirens.

OK hotel in bad neighborhood.

Pros: Friendly staff, reasonable price.
Cons: Location.
Location: There's a nice Asian restaurant across the street, otherwise it's a pretty scruffy neighborhood, but safe in daylight hours.
The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. The surrounding area, however, is home to a large homeless community, prostitutes, and drug traffickers - but I'm told it's fairly safe.

Don't stay here

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Even if it was renovated there was nothing you could do about the neighborhood
Location: Close to Chinese garden an hop on hop off bus
This hotel is in a very bad area. We took cabs so we didn't have to walk through the neighborhood to return to the hotel at night. There was no air conditioning. There was a fan but if it was plugged in you could not charge you phone and iPads. There was a hair dryer but no outlet in the bathroom to plug it in. There were two outlets and you had to move the bed to plug in you electronics which meant you had no light. You had to unplug the tv and crawl on the floor to acces the other outlet. The man at the front desk was helpful but there wasn't much he could do to help us get electricity. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Go somewhere else

This hotel is located in a very tough neighborhood. Spend $25-50 more and go somewhere else.
