Situated in the heart of the charming Conservation Area in Wells, Avocet Apartment is a quaint first floor coastal apartment for two, tucked away on a side street adjacent to the start of beach road. The beautiful sandy beach can be reached in 25 minutes by foot, and the apartment takes full advantage of being located near award-winning eateries and famous fish and chips.

In a very enviable location, Avocet Apartment is just fifty yards from the bustling quay, yet enjoys the peace of a quiet little side street, meaning guests experience the best of both worlds. Fresh and modern, Curlew Apartment is welcoming and comfortable boasting convenience without a fuss. The electric wood burning stove effect fireplace, deep leather sofa and plush furnishings in the sitting room make for a great spot to nestle into after a day spent in the big outdoors. The well-equipped kitchen features modern appliances and plenty of work top space for catering at home. Meals can be shared at the dining table for two. The inviting bedroom has a double bed, and is served by a next door bathroom featuring bath with shower over. Outside, the west-facing courtyard garden is set with table and chairs. There's even a handy outside tap for washing down your boots after an invigorating coastal walk. The apartment boasts one allocated parking space nearby - a real bonus in the centre of Wells. Miles of picturesque walks can be embarked upon straight from the door, following the pretty coast path. With a Coasthopper bus stop just around the corner from the apartment, its easy to catch the bus back again.

All in all, Avocet Apartment is an ideal calm coastal getaway in a fabulous location, well-equipped for a couple or single traveller at any time of year. The excellent location makes exploring Wells and the entire North Norfolk coast incredibly easy. Wells beach, its iconic colourful beach huts, and the surrounding pine forest make for a great adventure. The award-winning Wells Crab House is a three minute walk away, but be sure to book! E-bikes can also be hired from nearby. The pretty Buttlands, and the two great gastropubs there can be reached a short walk walk. The road out of Wells leads directly to Burnham Overy Staithe, Burnham Market, Brancaster Staithe and all the villages to and beyond Hunstanton, each with exciting attractions, including paddleboarding, sailing, birdwatching, nature reserves, amusements, outstanding pubs and restaurants, and much, much more! In the other direction, the road leads to Cromer via Stiffkey, Blakeney and Cley to name a few, where there are seal trips, nature reserves and more wonderful dining opportunities. The whole coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The stately homes of Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall and HM The King's Sandringham Estate are all within easy reach, as well as National Trust Blickling Hall.

Flat in Wells next the sea

The flat was nice and tidy and had most things to hand. Only yards off the sea front and Wells has several good restaurants and pubs.

Cosy home from home!

Brilliant!!!! Quiet central location, just a few steps from the quay and a few more from the High Street. Clean, private, bright, cosy, well equipped, apartment with a dedicated parking space. Wells Next The Sea is ideally situated to explore the coast, villages and inland towns as well as having an interesting bustling local economy which makes it feel ‘real’, as opposed to a tourist destination. You’ll find everything you need in Wells…pubs, restaurants, cafes, bakers, butchers, fishmonger, deli’s and greengrocers as well as a large supermarket. Loved every minute of our week long break, would thoroughly recommend and already have!!!

Christmas at Wells

Arriving on the last local bus from Kings Lynn it was a wonderful surprise to realise that the apartment was literally across the road from the Quay, which was beautifully lit with Christmas trees Once inside there was a welcoming Christmas tree ,a Christmas cake on the table and a totally unexpected gift from the owners.The card outlining the local church services was much appreciated . The apartment couldn't be faulted...clean,warm and well equipped ...all it lacked was a pint of milk in the fridge.At 7pm on a winters night a cup of tea would have been welcomed without having to go out to find it. Wells was a delightful place to spend Christmas...lots to do and see with the realisation that there was a comfortable base to return to... I wished I was there for New Year too!

Avocet apartment

I have made a structured criticism to Norfolk H. The apartment is scruffy and dated. The garden was overgrown and they did send a handyman to tidy it up. Security of the door is not very good. Mould in the bathroom shower area. We didn’t use the cooker. We reported the kettle leaking badly at the end of our stay. The bedding and towels were very clean. The location is excellent. Car park space is a welcome bonus in Wells.

Excellent location, very enjoyable

Excellent location, with a parking space which was a definite plus. Plenty of room two people and two dogs, nicely decorated everything we could have wanted, a most enjoyable stay would book again next year. The only down side was the parking was a bit akward but a parking space in the heart of Wells is a definite plus.

A weeks holiday

The location of Avocet apartment is very good for the shops,buses,harbour etc. It is a lovely light property. Just one or two small things were missed by the cleaner. The grill pan was very greasy, the oven with crumbs still in, some of the plates and mugs and glasses not too clean so I washed them all before our use. There was no cleaning material for the kitchen sink, bathroom etc. so that it could be cleaned at the end of the stay so I bought some myself as I like to leave the property as I would like to find it. The bed linen and towels were very clean.

Great location, if you're happy to put up with some noise from the flat below.

The flat is perfectly located for everything in Wells, and despite being in amongst everything, the noise from the town was not too noticeable. The noise from the flat below could be more of a problem (very thin floors), though fortunately for us there were only people in there for the first weekend. Also, the water heater comes on for half an hour at 11.30 every night, which seems a little late. The flat was generally in good condition, and a fine size for two, but the cleaning could have been better - we found hairs all over the place, and the bathroom floor did not seem to have been properly cleaned at all. All the electric goods worked fine, and there were ample essentials provided, if not the extras that you might find in some other holiday homes (no tea, coffee, sugar, condiments etc, but plenty of bedding and storage space). Would definitely recommend to any couple that could put up with the odd bit of noise from downstairs.

A week at Avocet apartment in Wells

Our stay at Avocet was perfect for my husband and I. The apartment was ideally situated in a quiet area just a few yards from the harbour,and Hopper bus stops. The kitchen utensils were adequate for us, bed linen,towels etc clean and fresh. Having a parking space was a bonus rather have to fight for one after being out for the day.

Easter break

We stayed in Avocet apartment over Easter weekend. its location approx 30 seconds from the quay is great ..The parking is a bonus but the access tight with a large car, a bit more info on booking would be helpful. The apartment was very clean and spacious but a little dated in places eg kitchen and bathroom . The pre booking info says things would be there for the first night so i expected a few t bags , some milk etc but nothing . As Wells is a small town late arrivals could be stuck with not even a cuppa !!! The towels were lovely and soft and as they were provided I thought a T towel would be also but alas no !!! The storage heater on the landing did not work and as there is no heating in the bedroom ( again this would have been good to know ) it made it difficult to get the bedroom warm , An extra blanket for the bed would have been nice , that said we were not cold despite the poor weather. The kitchen was well equipped and joy of joy the oven and hob worked efficiently , stayed so many places where they don't! The local and house info was helpful and the books and games a nice touch, also lovely to have a proper table to eat at . This apartment is dog friendly and yet was well presented in terms of décor and furnishings and as already stated very clean. Just a few simple extra could elevate this property to a 4 star but all in all we would stay again for its great location.

Has great potential...

Very central location with everything within walking distance. Although the apartment is advertised as being suitable for 4 people I wouldn’t try it for more than a couple of nights if there is four of you. One of the couples/children will be sleeping on a grubby sofa bed and if you’ve got children you’ll all have to turn in at the same time. We realised this and took a single mattress and bedding for our 6 yr old daughter which just about fitted into the bedroom. The main areas of the flat were clean, especially the cooker but the box under the bed containing spare pillows was completely covered in dust and cupboards hadn’t been cleaned - not to mention that two of the saucepans had been put away with water/residue still in them! There’s also a mish mash of crockery and not enough glass ware for four - unless you like using thimble sized wine glasses and a pint pot to make it work - we bought some wine glasses and mugs while we were there ( sorry, but we took them home with us so they won’t be available; )) I suspect that we were just unlucky and stayed at the end of a busy season..? That said, it’s a holiday letting business and a few simple changes/preparations by the landlord would have made all the difference. Norfolk Hideaways themselves were fantastic to deal with, both online and on the phone. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and look forward to booking through them again in the near future.

OK but could be better

The property needs a bit of tidying up. Despite other visitors reporting that a window catch was broken, there were several requiring attention. Cleanliness was O.K. but not great, needing a bit more attention to detail. There was only one tea towel and dishcloth provided for the week and we could not find a hair drier in the property, something we have always found provided in other properties. The bed was very comfortable but a 13.5 tog duvet meant we were far too warm even in October. From the outside the property looks a little tired, with the windows needing a lick of paint. For the price I suppose we shouldn't complain too much but with a little bit of work the property could be really nice.
