Great location to experience Colonial Williamsburg
I found the unit I rented to be very comfortable and in excellent condition. Infortunately Colonial Williamsburg has really diminished it's commitment to being a "living" museum experience. We were looking forward to a Colonial Christmas but we found little to create the feeling we had been promised by the advertisements.
Two coworkers and I stayed here while we attended a conference in Newport News. It was nice to have some distance from the conference hotel and be close to Colonial Williamsburg.
The property itself isn't anything fancy. In fact, one of my coworkers commented that it reminded her of her mother-in-law's retirement center (haha), but it was clean, has easy parking, and had the space we needed for our fun work week. If I could critique anything, it would be the check-in process. Now, the staff were excellent and so welcoming. But the concierge tried so hard to get us to attend the timeshare presentation, and I had to keep saying, "We're here for work; we don't have time." I had to get more direct before she finally conceded. It made me feel uncomfortable, especially because the VRBO listing made no mention of this "requirement."
Other than that, it was a great stay. I would definitely consider this property again in the future.
It was an excellent 3-day stay to celebrate the birthdays of my wife and one of our good friends. Everything in the condo was as expected. Our stay was in early January so the gas fireplace in the unit was a welcomed plus. We are big fans of Colonial Williamsburg so we greatly appreciated that we could walk to the historic buildings, homes, and shops from the condo. We have found January is a good time to visit Williamsburg. No crowds and more time to interact with the various actor/interpreters.
The check in was very easy and staff was very nice. We had a two bedroom suite and it was very nice and clean. Our beds did not have mattress pads on them and the common areas could have been in cleaner and needed better maintenance. Overall experience was good. The location to Colonial Williamsburg was excellent.
After a long drive, arrived at the property around 5pm, one hour after the property's check-in time. Room was not ready and there was no ETA. Checked back at 6pm, room still not ready and no ETA. Finally received notification at 730.
Check-in process largely uneventful - you get your room keys from front desk but then are sent to another desk to get your parking pass from property reps trying to sign you up to hear the sales pitch. If you're not interested, they weren't especially pushy, it was fine.
Went to our room and despite the 3+ extra hours, it wasn't especially clean. We found some french fries on the floor and some small toys and things from previous occupants. The room itself was underwhelming and not exactly as shown on the site. We had been expecting hard wood floors and newer, nicer furniture. Instead, we saw some drab carpeting and really dated furniture. And despite booking for our family of six, we weren't provided any sheets or pillows for the pull out sofa bed.
There were some other minor inconveniences - i.e., no vending on-site, poor Wi-Fi, etc.
When I sent my concerns about the check-in experience to a booking agent, received no response.
If you have other options for your stay, I would explore those.
Nice place and location, but acoustics were terrible. Other guests disturbed us every night.
We liked the unit and the location to Williamsburg sites was ideal. But we heard our neighbors overhead and next door constantly, at all hours of the night. The property manager offered a move but we did not do it because we figured it might be the same in another unit. The pool was lovely but also very crowded. There was no management of people jumping off the side and generally misbehaving. Maybe I should stay at less family-friendly places on my next vacation.
We loved our stay. This truly was both comfort and convenience. The staff was lovely. The hotel was clean, spacious and easy. We enjoyed the amenities offered. We would definitely stay here again.
