Nice clean room but a bit on the small side, excellent shower. Noisy in the evening untill closing time in the pub downstairs but then lovely and quiet. We didn't eat here in the evening as we were meeting people in Pickering but the food certainly looked good! Breakfast next morning was excellent with a great choice of continental style and the various cooked options. Parking in the car park is very limited but there is easy street parking at the front. It's a very quiet area so I had no worries about that. Thoroughly recommended!
We had a lovely stay, room was clean and comfortable, dog friendly.
Food was delicious and excellent friendly service.
Situated just a short distance from the moors with lovely walks and stunning scenery.
The staff were so friendly and keen to make everything perfect. The room was great. The food was excellent. I had really great dinners and breakfast was delicious start to day. The locals clearly loved the Royal Oak which was another good sign! Such a great stay and only good things to say about it!
A lovely stay at the Royal Oak for one night. Very friendly and attentive staff. They were more than happy to arrange late access to the property due to us having to return to the room late at night. Breakfast was excellent, with options for full English or kippers, plus plenty of toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurt.
The car park is very small, and can't accommodate all vehicles, however there is ample parking on the road at the front of the property.
The room was comfortable with clean linens. The shower water temperature was a bit hit and miss, but overall fine.
A lovely hotel/pub.
The staff were very welcoming helpful,
friendly and efficient.
The chef produced some wonderful meals
We've stayed in larger rooms but that didnt matter as there was everything you needed with the added bonus of being so lovely and warm as we chose to stay during the coldest few days of this year.
York, Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors were all not far away.
We'll definitely be back.
We stopped for an overnight stay at the Royal Oak. It was a really friendly and traditional pub serving lovely food and ales. Staff were incredibly friendly and warm. We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast, both of which were delicious. The accommodation is situated in a small village location, very quiet but lovely. It was exactly what we wanted. If I have any complaints it was the bedrooms were a little on the cosy side, but adequate enough for the two of us.
Very friendly and welcoming traditional Pub with rooms. Excellent quality breakfast and traditional bar.
Rooms a little dated but comfortable and clean.
