Cozy lake cabin located less than one hour from Minneapolis. It's the perfect place to get away for those looking for a minimalist vacation! Recently remodeled, Ivy Cottage is a great place to unplug (or not, with high-speed internet) and enjoy a stunning view of Lake Fremont. This small but lovely cabin boosts two bedrooms, a well-stocked kitchen and stunning outdoor spaces. Nestled on a peninsula, you will enjoy your morning coffee (or evening cocktail) with a 180+ degree view of the lake and a nature preserve!

We don't have many reviews yet....why? Because we recently bought and remodeled this little gem. We also own a sister property just steps away with TONS of great reviews (check out Fremont Cottage on Lake Fremont). Feel free to book both cabins if you'd like to vacation with family/friends.

DETAILS on Ivy Cottage...
Master bedroom - NEW organic Queen mattress with organic cotton linens and a small closet.

Second bedroom - Twin over full size bunk beds featuring NEW organic mattresses with organic cotton linens and a small closet.

Living Room - Small couch and high top table with seating for four people

Kitchen - open shelving, an island on wheels so that you can move as you cook/prep, well-stocked with your basics (olive oil, seasonings, etc), pots/pans/dishes/glasses/etc, microwave - everything that you to need to make a gourmet meal!

Office/laundry room - Perfect spot to get a little work done or leave with clean clothes!

Porch - screened in to keep the bugs away! Perfect spot to sip your morning cup of coffee and/or evening cocktail (or tea).

Grill - gas grill with utensils included.

Cabin also includes a fire pit, open patio and dock. Feel free to bring your own boat or rent ours. Parking is on the side of the house - space for two cars.

A Maui Mat (think of a large floating yoga mat that can be used as a swim platform) is provided with the rental along with two SUPs. The stand up paddle boards are a great way to explore Lake Fremont (check out the island at the center off the lake and watch the bald eagles)!

This sweet little cabin is meant to escape from busy life so we have intentionally chosen not to include a TV. High speed wifi is available though, because we understand that sometimes a little connection is important!

Want to bring your dog? We love dogs! We welcome dogs for a non-refundable $100 pet deposit. No cats allowed as the owner has a severe cat allergy (Christina loves cats, so blame Craig). Please note that smoking is not allowed inside the cabin.

Like to fish? Throw in a line and catch sunnies, bass and northerns right off the dock! The lake was recently restocked with game fish by the DNR.

Beautiful walking trails within a couple blocks at Grams Regional Park (see photos).

Interested in water adventures during your stay? For an extra fee, we offer rental of a pontoon boat. Ask for details.

Only 20 minutes to Albertville Outlet Shopping Center and the Shops at Arbor Lakes. Only 45 minutes to Minneapolis.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ivy Cottage during our visit to MN. The location was close by to family in Princeton and Champlin and also for a wedding near Milaca. The house was clean and comfortable, and kitchen was well stocked for small meal preparation. Craig was an excellent host and easy to communicate with. It is very peaceful cottage and the lake views are awesome! We highly recommend this cottage!

Beautiful Cabin

Craig’s place was a perfect retreat to the lake and a pace to unplug and relax. Craig was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Definitely recommend for any couple to come for a visit.

Perfect, Relaxing Getaway

My husband and I just finished up a month long stay at the Ivy Cottage. The cottage itself is so cute and comfortable. Very clean, looked just like the photos. It is right on the water - Beautiful views! Our dog was with us and we enjoyed walking the nearby trail. Hosts were very responsive and helpful!

Out-of-town Friend Stay

My friend from Australia wanted to have a cabin experience while staying with us here in Minnesota. We live in the suburbs, so this was a nice little quiet, two-night getaway for her to experience that. We enjoyed the quiet serenity of this little cabin and she liked how close it was to the water. Return to Zimmerman

We were back in Zimmerman for a graduation party. We wanted to stay close to family and bonus to be on a lake. The Ivy Cottage met all of our needs. Craig was a great host and was able to accommodate an early check in (we had arrived on the red eye the morning of our check in)even though they had guests check out that morning.

Fantastic Quiet Getaway

The Ivy Cottage was a perfect quiet place to unwind for our stay. No TV (but good internet, it is 2023 afterall) so we could read and enjoy the lake. The cabin is small and cozy but enough space to relax and not feel on top of one another. The town of Zimmerman has all the ammenities you need, couple of decent restaurants and a bowling alley. Great for a quiet getaway!

my stay was comfortable, relaxing and I enjoyed every moment of it. Was able to do some fishing. Caught a bullhead and a perch. Made up my mind that I must build a house on my lake lot property.

lovely spot, overall quite nice. Only things that dropped the 5th star for me were lack of cooking spices (specifically pepper) and dog fur on the furniture. This is a dog friendly place, we brought our non-shedding dog, but for a 125 cleaning fee the fur should be minimal...there was fur all over the ground. Really enjoyed the sun room and the nearby trails, a very peaceful location. The A/C blew cold air and master bed was comfy, but the bunk bed could use some tightening of the hardware as the top bunk felt unstable and was very squeaky.

Very Nice!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary the week of the 4th and had a great stay! The area was nice and quiet and the lake was peaceful. The cabin has a great kitchen with a nice living room making it easy to relax. We brought a small TV and a streaming device and the Wi-Fi was excellent for our movies at night. We loved sitting in the screened in porch to read our Kindles enjoying the lake and a nice breeze. There is a nearby grocery store and 3 or 4 restaurants whenever we wanted to venture out. We give high marks to the Zimmerman Bar and Grill. We were sad to leave but it’s always nice to get back home again.

We were there just for a high school graduation, did not get to spend much time at the house but severed our purpose, everything was as expected. As with all Minnesota properties you do not want to be outside after dark with the bugs, only surprise was no tv, this was no issues just something that did not realize. Very happy with property and home to return again in the future

Neighbor Dogs are Menaces & Cleanliness was a problem

First, want to mention Craig was wonderful through booking and answering any questions; however, when we arrived, it did look like nobody had cleaned the place since last summer or fall. There were dozens and dozens of bugs in the door and window tracks, spider webs in corners, stink bugs or dead lady bugs were under bed linens and pillows. The shower was also quite grimy with soap scum and dirt. The biggest concern of ours was the neighbors dogs, both the next door neighbor and the neighbor 2 houses down. All 3 dogs of their dogs would continually come into the hosts yard and poop, pee, growl, bark, come up on the deck. The owners of the two neighboring houses were completely oblivious to their aggressive dogs roaming around- even though the one time the neighbor couldn’t even get her dog back to her own yard. It was quite a stressful stay in that manner considering we have a young toddler and a very gentle, harmless senior dog. Felt like this place had so much opportunity but didn’t live up. Can add photos of the place with time stamps to when we checked in to show cleanliness issues.
