Lovely rooms. Beautiful building with plenty of character. Barman was super friendly and helpful-Alex. Breakfast was so-so. We did not have dinner. Great location for exploring Aberdeen and dunnotar castle
Would stay again. //
Overall an almost great wpxerince. The property sits right on the River Dee, which our room overlooked. Very nice room but the mattress has seen better days…no spring! The dinner at the onsite restaurant was amazing; breakfast was lacking in comparison…how do you mess up orange juice?. The staff were very nice and helpful.
Next yo the river. Beautiful, isolated location. Charming, modernized rooms. Attentive, welcoming staff. Quiet environment although could hear loud speaking people in corridor outside the room.
This was by far one of the most unique and exquisite hotels I have ever stayed at. The named rooms were of old historical style beautifully kept and containing all the modern amenities needed. The best part of the hotel was the Great Room - it was GREAT!!! Loved it and spent much of our time in that room while at the hotel - words cant' describe how special it was. Hotel service was impeccable. The staff and management were all extremely attentive to our needs and questions. The food and drinks were visually impressive and very tasty. The salmon and scrambled egg breakfast was the best. Loved their Whiskey flights. I highly recommend this hotel to all, especially those that have a love for historical medieval culture! I give the Maryculter House 15 out of 10 stars! This place will remain a good memory for my wife and I forever. And don't forget to visit the Templar cathedral and graveyard just next to the hotel. Lots of history there. And the river next to the entire place was very beautiful and relaxing. Staying here allowed us to revitalize and immerse ourselves in the true culture of old! Almost forgot, the Molton shampoo and body wash were very refreshing - unlike anything we've ever experienced from a hotel - very very nice. Everything at the Maryculter House was of the highest quality and standards... Absolutely no complaints, except that we eventually had to leave :)
I thiroughly enjoyed my stay. What a beautiful setting and the room was lovely. Staff very hellful and polite. All in all i am verry happy to recommend!
Fascinating hotel, particularly for its history and remarkably beautiful location on the River Dee. Charming accommodations and a talented chef made for an enjoyable stay.
Middle stay of a 3 week vacation through Ireland and Scotland. By far our best stay so far and going to be hard to beat. Excellent all the way around. Our room was outstanding, our dinner and breakfast the best yet!
Caoimhe, our waitress at dinner made our entire trip worth it. She has exemplified everything we have come to appreciate about Scotland. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and offered the best suggestions for seeing Scotland at its finest.
Would recommend this place to anyone traveling through Scotland, stay at least 3 days here!
A very smart hotel, however i think their qualified chef must have been off when we visited. With the main evening meal the vegetables were cool and, I guess had been plated up long before the rump of lamb (whuch i had been told would be pink, but was well done). The meal wasn't cheap and over priced for the quality.
The cooked breakfast was greasy. Fat oused out of the black pudding; the haggis; and the potato scone. They appeared to have been deep fried rather than quicky pan fried in very hot oil. I didn't complain as the waiting staff were rushed off their feet. All I can say is that the cooked breakfast at a Cumbrian B&B the previous day was much, much better.
Nice hotel, but the catering really let it down on this visit.
This was an amazing property. The history of the hotel dates back to 1200. It was a very up market experience, our room overlooked the fresh clean running river. The room felt like I was in a room in a castle and the bathroom was beautiful as well. The meal experience in the restaurant was such a 5 star experience. I recommend if you want a unique 5 star experience stay at Maryculter hotel.
