Show night stay

A great location for our Tivoli Theatre show and very convenient for the bus station. We had high tea which was very tasty with good cakes and great value but £11.40 for a glass of wine was not so good. We have booked again for later in the year

Nice property but crappy though clean room. Pretty expensive for two tiny twin beds with no headboards. Peeling paint. Heating wouldn’t go on. No shelf in the bathroom. No fan in the bathroom so everything gets steamy.

If they give you a physical key for your room ask for a change immediately. From the entrance to your room to the bathroom was like stepping back in time and the whole floor was uneven and noisy. No aircon so window open onto the main road, never got a wink of sleep, wont be booking again.

The room is totally updated and huge. We had to use an oscillating fan to sleep because these old, historic hotels don’t have the infrastructure for air handling and the duvet/no separate top sheet made it warm. Gorgeous room.

Bed was comfy food was good but the rooms are old every footstep the floor creaked loudly we had to move rooms as we had a leek in roof moved us to standard room and said we would get money back but then they changed mind cause we had booked through hotel.com then next day key wouldn’t work had to wait till the replaced key not be back very disappointed

No one on reception when I arrived. I had ask at the restaraunt and to wait 15 mins before some one from the restaraunt to come and check me in. The room allocated had not been serviced so I had to go back to reception and ask for another room. The new room was a family room but the tv did not work and the shower would not drain resulting in a bathroom flood. The TV was repaired but the shower drain was not. I had to create a wear with towels to prevent flooding which worked but is neither environmentally friendly nor reasonable. After 2 nights my key card stopped working resulting in another trip to reception (and 20 minute wait) The hotel is perfectly servicable and could be nice, it just need more (trained) staff.

An old Railway Hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Centrally located opposite the station and walking distance to plenty of shops and restaurants. Check-in was a bit slow owing to staff having to multi-task but all staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for a short break week end. Decent location opposite Aberdeen bus and rail station, and Union Square. Fine big clean room with Iron, Ironing board, tea coffee making and television, but no safe and our room (311) had only 3 working bulbs out of 5. Lift tended to get hi jacked by cleaners in mornings, and the mainly foreign staff tended to be surly. Thankfully the reception and restaurant staff at breakfast were a different kettle of fish and friendly and warming. Breakfast was nothing special but reasonable. To sum up you get what you pay for but our friend payed the same on a groupon deal at Leonardos opposite, which is where we will go next time. Another big turn off was having to walk through the groups of smokers and their reek at the hotel entrance, then the beggars hanging about a short distance up the hill.

We had a terrible experience checking in. Hotel did not have the booking & blamed Expedia. They tried to resolve with Expedia but could not & hotel manager told me I would have to call. It took an hour on the phone before we were able to check in. Unfortunately this meant we missed a planned event we had travelled for. Very disappointing customer service.

Good location but no air conditioning

Staff were friendly. Hotel is in a good location for the town centre and close to the ferry terminal. The hotel is in an old building with no air conditioning in the room and we couldn’t open any windows so was unfortunately it was an uncomfortable night. It’s also on a busy road through the town so you could hear the traffic all the time. The room was nice and big and bathroom was nice.

A overall bad experience

Upon arrival the front desk was understaffed being the receptionist and bar tender were same person. The first room we had was very warm. The bathroom towel warmer was hot and no way to turn it off. The heat radiated into the room and only 1 window opened. They did provide us a fan. No manager or maintenance on the property on Sunday. We asked to be moved and they obliged. The second room was better but only 2 windows opened about 3-4” so we requested and got another fan. The floor squeaked everywhere and slanted to one side of the room. Bathroom was the best part of the room. The hallways smelled musty and in general just unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel.
