This was a nice hotel, and within walking distance to everything you’d want to see in Athens. The staff were warm, inviting, and helpful. The rooftop restaurant had the best views of the city.

Everything about the Athens gate hotel was great! All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Easy walk to plaka, the acropolis, all types of food, the city for buses stop very close. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. Room 501 has perfect view of the temple of Zeus and from the corner of the balcony you can see the Parthenon too. I don't think I'd ever want to stay anyplace else. The only minor thing is few power receptacles and none are dual voltage, only European plugs and none in the bathroom. The balcony door really blocks the traffic noise well. Can't recommend highly enough!

The room was clean and had a good view of the Parthenon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They do not have smart TV’s so no Netflix or prime and the only English programming was CNN and BBC news. But in good location for everything else food, shopping and tours.

A few days ago, I had an experience at this hotel that left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome. When I returned to the property and walked toward the elevator, the same woman who had checked me in suddenly shouted “Miss! Miss!” across the entire lobby. Her tone was loud enough that all the guests seated nearby immediately looked up at me. When I reached the elevator, she shouted even louder from her desk. Feeling confused and startled, I asked whether she had a question. She responded by asking, “Are you staying at this hotel?” The manner in which she addressed me felt completely inappropriate. Yelling across a lobby is unprofessional in itself, but shouting such a question — loudly and publicly — made me feel singled out, scrutinized, and embarrassed. It was especially unsettling because I clearly had my room key, was heading to the elevators, and she had personally checked me in just days earlier. The interaction made me feel as though I was doing something wrong, when I was simply returning to my room. The next day, I brought my partner to speak with her and asked why she had behaved that way. She explained that if she doesn’t recognize someone’s face, she asks whether they are staying at the hotel. However, in all my years of traveling, I have never experienced a staff member — especially someone who is not security — shouting across a lobby to question a guest’s right to be on the property. The room was clean, the staff was helpful, the restaurant overlooking acropolis snd temple of apollo. Braekfast was great, but the location is fantastic. Right next to plaka district with restaurants and shops along cobblestone streets. Just charmimg.
