Love the water? Then make the beautiful Island Creek Resort your home for a week or a lifetime. This semi-private waterfront resort has 16 island-style homes designed for the active beach life. Set on Avon's pristine north end and accessible only by bridge, Island Creek Resort offers over 1,000 feet of shallow sound-front access. Windsurfers, kite surfers, kayakers, and kids will love this ultra-friendly location, where miles of open Pamlico Sound facilitate launching, fishing, exploring, relaxing, or just horsing around in the water.

This stilted home features a two-story layout with a raised, first floor featuring a wraparound deck and a common area with a TV and daybed. The second floor serves as the primary living space featuring an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area with vaulted ceilings and strong natural lighting. A second wraparound deck is furnished with Adirondack chairs and an outdoor picnic/dining table. You'll find everything you need for family-style cooking in the full kitchen and ample seating options including a ten-seater banquet dining table, four-person dinette, and an island breakfast counter with four barstools. The primary suite features direct deck access and an en suite bathroom. The fireplace is not available for guest use.

The boat ramp and docks handle small boats and personal watercraft. Acres of manicured sod keep Island Creek Resort looking good and feeling good underfoot. Relax in ICR's community pool or grab the Coppertone and head across the street to Avon's super beachfront. Spring and fall guests sing ICR's praises for board sports, while families regale in this secret spot for summer getaways. Seasoned travelers even head to ICR for their winter holidays. For parents introducing their families to the world of watersports and experts looking to perfect kiting, windsurfing, and kayaking techniques, this is truly a resort for all seasons. At Island Creek Resort, it's always better on the island.

Short get away from Hampton Roads

Very beautiful location on the water. The house was very well kept. Adequate rooms and sleeping are for 8. The layout was outstanding, couldnt ask for a better rental... short drive from Virginia already to go back again. Recommended 5

Waterfront corner property -- 180 degree view of the water. dock to launch your watercraft, large lawn to spread out your water toys. responsive group (e.g. fixed our dishwasher day of). If you want the crowds, stay in Kittyhawk. If not, then come here.

Fun in the sun!!

Our family loves this location because of the proximity to the sound and the fun water sports. We have 3 kids and it is stress free water fun. BUT the ocean is just a quick ride away.

A great week

We had nine adult family members and one dog for a week in July. Thunder Island met our needs perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped, there is a large table for family meals and games, and the corner spot on the Sound was beautiful and quiet. Avon is the perfect beach town, big enough with a grocery store and restaurants but not at all overbuilt. We loved it.

Fantastic views and short walk to the beach. A water sports playground in secluded community setting. Well stocked kitchen - Ninja, lots of pots and pans and any utensil you can think of. Mattress topper on King bed was super comfortable. Lots of common areas to walk you furry friend. Short drive to many restaurants.

Surrounded by Water!

What made this house our favorite is the backyard fishing and kayaking and unbelievable sunset view and ten-minute walk to the beach or 5 minute drive to the pier for easy beach access with plentiful parking. We loved the open floor plan and beautiful wraparound decks with spectacular water views. We will definitely return to Island Thunder.

Amazing home in an Otherwordly Place

These homes have gorgeous views and are a great location for water sports. They are located right on the sound and they have a little lawn in front of the water to spread out the equipment and launch comfortably. The homes are little older but are kept well. Definitely in a shabby-chic category, but having all the amenities, from jacuzzi, multistory decks to communal swimming pool. I go there every year.

Super family vacation

Great location and arrived to a very clean and well-prepared home. The great room upstairs was even bigger in person than it looked in pics and loved the house’s layout. Very comfortable for 8 of us (three being smaller kids). Kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking. Had to call maintenance for a minor electrical issue and they were there to fix it the next day.

Lovely setting

Loved the panoramic view of the sound. The lapping of the sound that you heard while sitting on the deck. Gorgeous front row seats to the sunset. The house was a perfect size for the five of us. Spacious living room and kitchen. Easy walk to the ocean. Kayak rental place within walking distance just over the bridge. Great place to stay with the dogs. They could hop right into the water.
