Good hotel. It met my needs during my stay. The breakfast buffet was bad - cold scrambled eggs, cold pastries, cold meats. Friendly staff. Good location of the hotel.

I hate to write negative reviews, but we would not stay here again. We were there during a heat wave and we had a 2 story suite with no A/C. We couldn't even sleep upstairs, had to pull out the sofabed and sleep downstairs where the portable air-conditioner was set up by the window. Although the room had some charm, it was very dark with not enough lighting and somewhat antiquated. Also, the elevator was pretty sketchy if more than 2 or 3 people were in it (you wondered if you were going to make it up to the 4th floor). The good things were the onsite parking and restaurant, the staff was friendly, and the ROAM bus pass was nice. The jacuzzi pool was nice but the "workout" room was just enough to say they had one (small with 4 pieces of equipment). Sorry, but there are many better choices.
Portable A/C unit in the tub on the luggage rack because the upstairs was sweltering. Better not to be able to use the bathtub than to sweat all night. Also, they had a little fan on the dresser. They need to update the rooms and add ceiling fans.

The hotel was fine. It was a little further from the shops and restaurants in downtown Banff than I would have liked. The hotel has no air conditioning and our room faced several other rooms, so no airflow when we opened the window. They were really accommodating with the fans when asked but it really just blew around the hot air. They said they were in a heat wave, which isn’t common but it was 85 during the day and our room was 84 degrees. Other than that, it was ok.

Good stay. Room was warm due to late heat in Banff but we were able to cool the room by opening the balcony door. I was disappointed in the $22 buffet as the food was good but not very warm.

The premium price seems high - everything was okay (except for the pool - not a pool)… but compared to other premium Banff properties was pretty plain.

Enjoyable Stay

The check in check out process was very easy. We had now complaints about our stay other than that there was only decaf coffee in our room when we first woke up on day one. The hot pool was a nice feature.

For starters, all hotels in Banff are horribly overpriced. Caribou: My room only had a small window in the corner and was so dark you had to open the door to the hallway just to find the light switches. Bathroom was also dark and not well lit. Toilet ran constantly and shower head was past its prime. Room was 75-100 ft from the spa and the essence of chlorine was always present. These things are minor and forgivable at a ‘normal’ hotel price but not when you’re paying double to triple the rate.

The toilet did not flush properly. It was slow to flush, noisy and kept running. I called front desk to get this fixed but I don’t think it happened. We stayed 3 nights- my friend fixed it by adjusting the chain after the 2nd day because it was annoying. It was an easy fix but I didn’t think I should deal with this on vacation. Otherwise it was pretty nice and clean. The property is abit old - hallway carpet / walls are stained. The pool/ hot tub is smaller than picture. The Keg restaurant is good- would be nice if had option for small morning breakfast such as muffins and coffee.

Nice location and rooms were fine but the price point felt a bit high. And a giant hot tub is not a pool - wouldn’t have stayed there if I knew that (kids didn’t like it).

Rooms great and property very clean. Check in and out was easy. The only dining option in the hotel was The Keg which I have frequented in Ontario for decades and normally love. In this case I was disappointed. While my teriyaki sirloin was very good, my husband's prime rib was most unappealing and looked rather like it had been boiled (or sous vide'd) as it was quite grey. On our last morning at approximately 8:45, we went for the buffet breakfast. Every item was cold. Having said that our previous breakfasts ordered from the menu had been excellent. Bottom line: I would most definitely stay again but would explore more dining options.
