Gas grill for cooking outside. Views are heavenly. A sitting room with a table for dining overlooks the water. View of Bishop Baraga statue across the lake. Relax and leave the outside world. Not on Lake Superior but in the bay. Right off the highway and the road noise was unbelievably loud. Very cluttered, not very tidy or clean. The small property is shared with two camper trailers which obstructs the view of the bay and has no privacy. Bed is in the kitchen, no where to put your stuff, bathroom floor is in poor condition, toilet is unstable, internet is spotty at best, no welcome packet or info about area. Overall, this is probably the worst Verbo I have ever stayed in.
This was a wonderful cabin. Petfect view on the water our dogs loved swimming. The only downfall was it is so close to 41 that traffic noise is constant
We loved our time here! The cabin is close to the lake & we enjoyed that! We had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. We liked that wood was supplied for a fire. It was clean & had a cozy, lived-in feel. A couple small things that couldve made our stay better or we wish we wouldve known: our grill wasnt working (I never asked host to fix, so thats on me), most of the Adirondack chairs were broken, unlike the photo there is NOT a boat for your use, the cabin is very close to a busy highway & there is road noise, finally- you will be sharing the property with two RV Campers that are also rented out (they are in close proximity). We had polite neighbors that minded their own business, but I would've like to have known that prior. Maybe it was written somewhere, but I didn't know until I arrived. Having said all that, it was a pleasant experience & im happy I stayed there.
While it is a pretty raustic cabin; there were several issues that needed to be fixed pruir to someone staying here. The stove started the smoke dector the minute we tried to use it. The toilet leaked. There are also two campers on this property so please be aware if you think youll be alone. We were thankful no one was staying in them. But all in all it was a good stay. If we had the time my fiance would have offered to fix eveyething for them! The offer is there though!
Beautiful rustic little cabin, right next to the water close access to food, fuel, and family. I definitely recommend a stay if youâre not into the whole fancy hotel style life.
Very unhappy customer/Should be refunded dueto strong odor
We were unable to stay due to very strong musty moldy smell in cabin. There were lots of cob webs in skylight. Messaged Vrbo but had no response. There were people staying on sight in campers. Unable to park . Had to find a different place to stayinoour vehick
The place could have definitely been better maintained!!! It was a cute cabin and beautiful shoreline of Lake Superior !! The cabin appears to have not been cleaned, 1st thing I had to do was clean the refrigerator out to be able to put our food in there was crusted food and shells of onions. The best part we enjoyed was the fireplace . We thought that it made more sense for the bed to be on the other side of the room and the dining area and living area to be in front of the fireplace, but we still enjoyed it. The bathtub was something I looked so forward to being that it was jet powered, but when we started the tub and the Jets, a bunch of black flaky fungus came out and continued to come out While running !! we had a blast, exploring the nature in our surroundings and hiking!!
We wanted to love this stay. A cute & well-decorated old cabin is pretty tough to mess up, but this stay does. The cons outweigh the pros here & the listing isn't up front. Def not worth the $600 we paid.
PROs:
- Cozy
- Well-decorated & charming
- Great views
- Nice location near Keewenaw.
CONS:
- SAGGING, SOGGY FLOOR. The subfloor is 100% rotten in the main cabin & bath. No little slope â the fridge is shimmed up 4in or so. When our 30lb dog walked through the cabin, the. floor. bounced. The toilet wobbles when you sit on it. Anyone w/ mobility or vision problems could fall or get hurt.
- MOLD WARNING. Complete lack of caulk around fixtures or mounting in bath so shower spills water behind the tub. It runs under the tub & out onto the floor â presumably under the linoleum which, because of the sagging, is pulling away from the tub & wall. Mold sensitivities made this stay very uncomfortable. I tripled my antihistamines & tried to stay out of the cabin. Between the breathing issues from allergies + the grogginess from extra meds, I felt like crap while we stayed here.
- NOT CLEAN. The shower had smudges (ew), no dusting, old, stinky dish sponge... I ended up cleaning the coffee stand myself and rewashing our dishes due to dust and dead bugs. Hopefully the bedding had been changed?
- NOT STOCKED. The listing makes it seem that wood & coffee are provided. They were not.
- LOUD. Literally 50 ft from busy highway w/ shipping & logging traffic. No relaxing here.
The property had everything we needed. We loved it so much. The location is right on the bay, if you are in to ice baths the water was perfect for it (we went in October.) Its located next to a main rd, but the brush line gives you privacy.
The cabin could be very cute! It needs updating. New blinds, window covering, ect. The floor in the bathroom is soft and you feel like you could fall through. There is spiderwebs and spider eggs everywhere. The floors are dirty, you have to wear your shoes or socks. The windows and seals are very dirty. It needs completely cleaning from top to bottom.
I only review honestly but I will put many pros first. Gorgeous view. Adorable cabin. Stocked cleaning supplies. Fire pits. Responsive host. Linens towels and bedding provided. Honestly, before you read the cons, please know we thoroughly enjoyed this place, I just didn't expect to have to clean as cleaning fees are part of Vrbo charges so it should have been cleaner from prior stay. The host even gave permission with no fee for us to arrive early (we didn't end up needing to do so but it was so kind.)
Cons-
The fans were too thick with dust to use and there was dog doody everywhere. We made sure to pick our up and dispose of it. The WiFi literally doesn't work at all but we weren't there for that. I also had to scrub the bath to use it.
With more cleaning and enforcing dog poop cleaning, it would have been stupendous. Who cares about WiFi, just maybe don't advertise it as a perk?
Despite the oddly manic review, I'd rent again and hope to make it an imeccape 5 stars!
Property was as advertised. Rustic and a lot of time went into all the bear nick nacks and bear themed items around the cabin. I would love to have this place. The highway can be a little noisy at times as other people have stated. But I signed up knowing it was there. Beach area has concrete steps that are uneven getting to beach. Just adds to the charm.
