Gruenhagen Bay Bear Cub is a charming two-bedroom cabin just steps from Long Lake, located on what was once the historic Sunset Resort. This updated and nicely furnished retreat offers a comfortable place to relax with modern conveniences like air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a full kitchen in a compact and efficient layout.

This cozy cabin sleeps four guests with two queen bedrooms and a full bathroom. It’s a great fit for a small family or two couples looking for a peaceful getaway. The cabin sits just about 100 yards from the water and includes a boat slip, so you can easily enjoy a day of fishing, cruising, or relaxing on the lake.

While Bear Cub is a wonderful standalone rental, it can also be booked together with the larger Sunset Bay Lodge, which sleeps up to 10 and sits just in front of the cabin. This setup is perfect for larger families or friend groups who want to stay close while still enjoying their own space and privacy.

Long Lake is over 19 miles long and known as the Walleye Capital of Wisconsin. With 99 miles of shoreline, six boat-up restaurants, scenic sandbars, and excellent fishing, it’s a favorite destination for summer fun. The surrounding Birchwood area also offers great ATV and snowmobile trail access, plus easy day trips to nearby towns like Rice Lake, Spooner, Hayward, and Shell Lake.

A Note About Dogs:

We LOVE dogs and we want our guests to enjoy their vacation with the whole family, including the furry members :) Up to two dogs are allowed at this cabin with prior approval; an additional fee applies. That being said, please be mindful of whether our home is appropriate for your dog(s).

We may not be the vacation rental for you if your dog:
considers barking to be a favorite pastime,
chews things other than bones,
likes to visit the neighbors unsupervised (we do not have a fenced-in yard),
or uses the house as a bathroom.

We ask that your dogs be supervised when at the cabin and crated when you are not. Also, it should not need to be said (but unfortunately needs to be), PLEASE pick up after your dogs. It is NOT the responsibility of our cleaners.

Please note, this home is intended for quiet family vacations and small group getaways. It is not a party cabin. Guests must be 25 or older to rent.
