The artwork was enjoyable and attracting. It was not quite what I expected. The dinning options on sight were not the best. Not much variety to choose from. Specifically - No salads on the menu the day we arrived.

I chose this hotel because I liked that they partner with local artists and wanted to support a business that supports the arts. The hotel was clean and had the basic amenities like an onsite eatery, laundry, and fitness center. It lacks a pool (my kids were disappointed) but is right across the street from a public park with a splash pad and wading pool. The room was pretty small for 4 people, the bathroom especially. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. In the room I stayed in, the bathroom door wouldn’t shut all the way (sliding barn door style- just slid back open), and the air conditioning was uneven throughout the building, leading to a musty scent in the hallways. All in all, it was a nice hotel but I am not sure I would stay there again, especially since there are so many other options in the Boston area.

Meh

I really wanted to like Studio Allston, and it's cool what they've done to revitalize an old hotel. Unfortunately, on several occasions over the three days we were there, the hotel fell short. It started with relatively trivial things like no hot water for tea, really loud HVAC that kept us up at night, and frosted glass barn doors to the bathroom that really aren't doors and leave little privacy. We would ask for more hot water, and it just wouldn't get done. The last night there, however, was not fun. First, there was a huge party in the common area that prohibited access to the food we had planned to order, and the hotel's advertised policy about no smoking was clearly not enforced as the entire hallway smelled like pot all night long. Then, despite requiring quarters for the laundry machines, there was no way to make change to run dollar bills through the coin changer. After the detergent dispenser ate our money, I found myself walking through the streets at 9:30 to buy unnecessary items at a gas station so I could finish the laundry. When the front office was told the dispenser ate our dollar, we were promised reimbursement, but that never came. It's only a dollar, but it meant I had to walk to a gas station to dry our already wet clothes.

This place is artful and chic. The staff were wicked kind and responsive. The suite I stayed in had 2 televisions and a mini fridge with a little freezer that kept my ice cream in great condition overnight. Breakfast is free and ok.. bagels were especially good and fresh. I would definitely stay here again. Super clean and very affordable for what it offers. <3

On the plus side, the staff were great. And there is a beer wall! However, you need to drink a lot of that beer to be drunk enough to sleep over that AC in the room. It is OLD and loud. And you can hear your neighbour's toilet flushes, alarm (which was at 2h50 am during our stay). It is an older hotel that was revamped to try and make it look cool. However, just like putting lipstick on a pig, when the core structure was not built to be soundproof, well, no amount of coolness will make it better. And as far as VIP treatment, it is the poorest VIP offering I received in the 10+ years of using Expedia. So, if you sleep through noise, this might be a good place for you. If was not for us.

We found the breakfast very disappointing. Cold boiled eggs and just bakery mostly sweet bakery. As I silver member, I was supposed to get a parking credit. It was indicated with my room selection at the time of booking, but they said they cannot see that ,and we paid another US$15 per night. The building is located beside an abandoned building. There were no video cameras in the parking lot. I think the hotel was clean but much improvement of the food, security and service can be made for the price they ask for.

We have stayed at this hotel a half a dozen times. I like the new food and the beer / wine taps. Didn't like being put in the back building where you have to walk down a long hallway then down 10 stairs w/luggage. Then down another long hallway to get to room. We are 65 yrs old. No warning or asked if we needed help getting to room. I thought being a returning guest and our age would get us a better room as we had all the other times we stayed at this hotel

Excellent Stay

Ashley from the front desk went above and beyond. Told us what was happening at the hotel on Friday and Saturday. Also recommended places to eat that was close by. On Saturday morning I asked for 2 additional towels from a Housekeeper, not only did she provide the 2 extra towels but came in our room to give a quick refresher to our bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Variety of selection to choose from.
