Excellent Hotel

Excellent hotel with lovely comfortable rooms. Check in was easy with all staff being very polite and helpful. We weren't there for an evening meal was breakfast was delicious and great to get a freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to a buffet. There is also a large car park, with the hotel being a very short stroll from the golf course.

Great location. The beach and golf course are just around the corner. The room had two single beds which I thought was odd for a premier king. They did offer to push them together with a king size quilt, but i don't really consider that the same. The evening meal was very nice, but staff a little awkward. They didn't seem to understand what a gin martini was, and how to bill it. I'm being a little picky.. They're close to getting a 5 star review from me.. it just wasn't quite perfect. Would stay again though, location was excellent.

Lovely location, disappointing experience

We chose to stay in the Royal Marine because we were golfing in Brora and its location is perfect. The architecture of the building is beautiful and the interior has, mostly, been well restored. Our room was fine, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, all our experiences in the restaurant and bar were spoiled by poor service. The staff seemed uncertain, as though they had not received adequate training. Errors were basic, e.g. bringing main courses before starter plates had been cleared, handing hot plates across others with the expectation we would take the plates from them, forgetting to bring items we had ordered. We had high expectations of the hotel but felt very disappointed with the overall experience.

Disappointing Brora Stay

The room was fine and the bed comfortable but the room was not serviced very well, bathroom floor dirty, towels not changed at all during our 3 night stay. The restaurant is overpriced and the sevice slow especially at breakfast time ( we waited 40 mins for our breakfast one morning). Not enough staff to cope at busy times. The food was average and did not justify the high prices.

A top property to plan into any highland trip, especially the NC500. Faultless no, but any issue was addressed immediately and in a professional manner

Well, where do I start? The good point or the bad points. The good point, the room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Towels were good and shower was powerful. Room serviced timeously although a dirty cloth was in the bathroom when I checked in. The bad points, a fair few I am afraid. Food in the restaurant is not great. The speed of food appearing would suggest that it is all pre cooked and simply warmed up. £16.00 for four small overcooked queen scallops is not great and the beetroot starter was of ppor quality imo. The icing on the cake, the ice cream sundae, £12.00 for three scoops of chocolate ice cream with a chopped up imitation Mars Bar and some chocolate sauce served in a small bowl. The restaurant manager looked positively embarassed when I challenged her about it and in fairness it was quickly removed from the bill. Once the food was served no-one was in the slightest bit interested in how things were. Breakfast was not much better, stale cornflakes in a large bowl were the highlight. No sugar for tea and coffer on the individual tables and you just get told it is on the buffet table, fine for one cup but have more than one and you need to carry the cup back and forward. Would you like toast? Yes please, have one slice and one measly piece of butter. Breakfast on the second day was in fairness significantly better than first day but the butter and sugar issues remained. Charging the money that they are they require significant improvement in many areas.
