The online photos flattered the property. It was a good size, but quite old. Furnishings were ok, but the room itself wa alike stepping back in time.

Our apartment at Tradewinds was comfortable and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Tradewinds was spacious, clean and well situated. The appartment was unserviced and this was reflected in in a better price. Well pleased with this choice.

We stayed for 3 days, the 2 bedroom apartment had everything that we needed. The rule book was a bit daunting eg: sugar satchel 10 cents, everything had a price. We did have to wash all cutlery and glasses before we used them as they were dirty. BBQ in pool area was filthy. We did have a very relaxing time and the walk to shops and restaurants is not very far.

At first we thought the AC was just kickstarting. But coming back to a unit that's hot on a hot and humid day is not pleasing at all. We then noticed the AC was not cooling as expected, we left it to cool the room but came back to a hot room again (we were drenching and fanning profusely) as the aircon turned off by itself. Tried to cool the room again at 18c but nope, the aircon was not cooling at all even at the bedrooms. Whenever we come bavk there was a pool of water just under the lounge AC. We couldn't complain at time as we were busy out and about and it's late whenever we come back to the apartment. Sensored AC is not ideal specially on hot humid days. Management should consider your paying tenants not just them being able to save.

Aircon is getting old, looks like we may have to replace it this year before next summer.Yes all aircons have sensors to stop people abusing them, why leave it on in an empty room for 12 hours? waste of power and causes unnecessary break down. inthe 8 years we have had these sensors on the aircons throughout the hotel it has saved 10k per year in power and reduced break down by 90%. Some people just think of themselves. Plus you mention a pool of water under it? another reason why we have sensors in there, would you rather come home late to a flooded unit?? this is one other reason why we put them on there as a long time back we have had units flooded when people left aircon on all day and a drain pipe became blocked which happens once in a while. Couldnt complain? dont you have access to email?? or pen and paper leav enot under reception door?? dont ahve a phone? canty call during the day? we cant fix what we dont know.sure we could increase accommodation prices to cater for increase of power and break down, but the majority of people seem to like saving the planet and we do have gret feedback about these things with people saying more hotel should have them.everyone to their own. if this is the onyl reason you gave us a poor score we are doing pretty good then.

Our stay was ok… we booked it with the intent of it being just a place to sleep & shower and would spend very little time here. It was clean I’ll give them that and the bathroom was relatively new. Our balcony had a nice view over the back garden. We booked & paid for a portacot which on arrival was told they had none left so our 2 month old had to sleep in her pram which was not ideal. Our aircon in the main room stopped working on day 2/4. Didn’t bother asking for maintenance as it’s time consuming & didn’t want someone in our room. I did think booking this place it would be closer to everything (or anything) beware it’s a big walk!! Next time I’d book near the esplanade now having visited. All in all it was OK.

first of all you booked for 5 people, no mention of age of the people or a portacot and a bed was being organised until you said a cot, we didn't have any available as other people had organised it ahead of time, do NOT blame us for this one. If you do NOT ask for maintenance, you don't get it, simple as that, don't complain about this. If you picked up the room phone and said there was an issue i would have fixed it straight away. Things like this are normally user issue not understanding how it works fully and if not can normally be fixed/diagnosed in a matter of minutes. Well closeness to things is a personal opinion I guess, we are close to a lot things and in very a convenient location for a lot of people, all depends what you want to be close to I guess, each and every person to their own.

A very nice place for a family of four to stay for a one week holiday in Cairns. Check there website for more booking information.
