Heart's Desire: Great Sunset Views
Tucked away just off the main road and surrounded by the calm beauty of Canandaigua Lake, Heart's Desire is a charming lakeside cottage that perfectly blends nostalgic Finger Lakes character with thoughtful modern updates. It's the kind of place where life slows down, laughter comes easy, and the sound of waves becomes your favorite backdrop.
Step inside and you'll instantly feel at home. The cottage opens into a bright, welcoming dining room with hardwood floors, a classic wooden table, and large windows framing beautiful lake views. Just beyond, the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare family meals or quick snacks between lake adventures.
The living room is cozy and inviting, offering a comfortable gathering space with water views and access to the covered lakeside porch. It's the perfect spot to share dinner outdoors, watch kids play on the beach just steps away, or sip your morning coffee as the lake comes alive.
The main floor features a spacious primary bedroom and a full bathroom conveniently located nearby. Upstairs, the home's original cottage charm shines throughâwarm wood floors, vintage details, and soft lighting that give the space a timeless feel. Two of the upstairs bedrooms overlook the lake, one with a queen bed and one with two extra-long twins. A smaller bedroom with a twin and trundle opens onto a screened sleeping porch with a queen bedâa guest favorite for peaceful nights drifting off to the gentle sounds of the water. The second floor also includes a remodeled full bathroom shared by all upstairs rooms.
Outside, you'll find a spacious, level yard that's perfect for lawn games, picnics, or relaxing in the sun. The natural walk-in lakefront with gradual depth makes swimming safe and easy, especially for families with younger children. A seasonal dock and boat hoist add to the fun, offering direct access to the water for boating, fishing, or simply soaking in the lake views.
With over 100 feet of lake frontage and close proximity to Pelican Point Marina, Heart's Desire captures everything that makes the Finger Lakes so specialâpeaceful scenery, simple pleasures, and time well spent together. We had a great family visit with out of town grandchildren and relatives. We enjoyed the swimming, boating with our kayaks and renting a pontoon boat . The weather was great and we cooled off each night with a breeze from the lake. We cooked over the open fire which was fun, but could have used a bigger grill. The dining room had plenty of room for all and everything was clean and easily accessible.
The fireworks provided by the neighbors and all around the lake were spectacular. I was so glad to see that the piano was working. Our grandchildren gave us a piano recital . We didnât even have many bugs!
First, I'll start by saying how beautiful the lake area is. The water was clear, shallow, and the swimming area is very kid friendly. However, the Lake House was NOT what is advertised. We paid WAY too much money for where we stayed. Cobwebs, clumps of dust, and clutter was everywhere. The cottage could be beautiful if it was cared for better. I have little kids and I would not let them sit on the furniture, we covered everything with sheets. There were no blankets or clean pillows. The garbage bins were full of the previous guests garbage and maggots. I could go on and on about the disappointments with the Lake House but I will end here. We will not be paying what we did for another week on the lake ever again. Also, please note many complaints were sent to the Agency via phone and email. I will say I am not satisfied with their response to my complaints.
We had a great vacation the week of the â4thâ! It was our family trip with my husband and myself along with my daughter, son-in-law and their 3 children. My grandchildren are 21,17, and 13. My husband bought a boat while there - so the kids were boating, tubing, and water skiing. We all loved the âcottageâ and we had plenty of room. I was surprised and impressed with all the personal touches we didnât expect. We had plenty of supplies - dishes, cookware, bedding and cleaning supplies. I especially liked the personal and homey extras like books, board games, and water toys. We brought with us a giant raft, Oasis Island, that held 8 people and we were wondering how we could get it blown up. We looked in one of the closets that had water toys and fishing poles and we found an air pump!! Thanks to the owners who really went above and beyond to provide anything you could want or need. We had a great time - thanks for sharing it with us.
