What a gaff

What a great hotel, booked it by mistake if I’m being honest but what a great mistake, great welcome from the owner who made us feel welcomed immediately, early check in too, I will definitely be going back for a longer stay to really take in the surroundings and local town, I couldn’t recommend it any higher, go and find out for yourself

Quiet and comfortable while also luxurious and the "on your honor bar' was a fantastic treat. Gardens and the lady who maintains them and Paul who runs everything were delightful hosts

Fabulous!

Beautiful house just minutes from medieval Carlingford. We arrived a little early on a damp afternoon to a blazing fire in the lobby and a lovely welcome from Orla and were thrilled to find we had been upgraded to the Bridal Suite in the Main House. It was absolutely fabulous! Room was spotlessly clean, 4 poster bed, beautiful bath and shower with quality toiletries provided. Tea / coffee facilities (including snacks) and bottled water provided. Being a Tuesday in February it was relatively quiet and we were advised that the bar staff would be finished early but we could help ourselves to whatever drinks we liked and just make a note of it. An Honesty Bar!!! In 2022!! Where else but in Ireland!! I even managed to pull 2 pints of Guinness for myself that evening! Restaurant was closed on Tuesday so we dined in the Village (McKevitts - vg!) Only disappointment was the breakfast. There was a great choice but unfortunately no fresh fruit ( did have apricot / figs in wine )! The fried breakfast was substantial but somewhat overcooked - or possibly reheated? - especially the bacon and my fried egg! Lovely fresh brown soda bread, jams & marmalade and a large pot of tea all of the highest quality. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and really went the extra mile for us. Will definitely return again. Loved it!

Long held ambition to stay in Ghan House. Our walking club went on a trip to carlingford and I chose to stay here From Sarah warm welcome to the time I left my stay went beyond my expectations Covid precedures were followed I had a garden room very spacious with ensuite free standing bath and separate shower Breakfast choice excellent recommend the scrambled eggs with salmon and the fry. I loved the brown bread muffins and their home made bread even bought a loaf prior to leaving Will I return most definitely and have dinner the next time

Something different

Bespoke hotel, only 12 bedrooms, ideal for someone looking to avoid the sole less big chains . Quirky old house with adjoining accommodation block. Good restaurant.
