Avis pour On the Chatham Loop - 1 Min to the Beach!
We were a group of 5 woman. Positives - The location of the home was great and the property management company, Del Mar, were great. The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The yard was lovely and the outdoor patio was very nice. Negative - The stairs going up to the second floor where 3 of the bedrooms were located could be challenging for some people. The upstairs hallway was very narrow. Due to the age of the home, the upstairs floors were very creaky. The shower stall in the upstairs bathroom could use an update.
Our Fab 5 got together for a reunion on the Cape. For most of us it was the 1st time there. Chatham was the perfect central location to go over to Martha's Vineyard as well as explore the entire Cape. The house met our needs. We enjoyed relaxing in the cozy living room in the evenings. Accommodations were comfortable for all.
We had a nice time at this property, but there were a few things that could be improved upon. When I rent a VRBO property I usually look for a gold host because they typically are outstanding for their communication and willingness to help make your getaway easy and special. This property is held by a property management company and that, I believe, was the reason I didn't give all excellent ratings.
My family was attending a wedding in Chatham, Ma and coming from California, Rhode Island, Maine, and Boston and meeting at this rental. My concern was getting everyone (including an infant), settled before attending the wedding at 3:30. I emailed twice to convey my concern about traveling down from Maine and not being able to get in as the check-in was at 4:00. I didn't think a half-hour was a big deal and for what we paid, (with fees etc $1500!!), I thought we should have been accommodated to alleviate my nervousness regarding the timing. I was told "we'd try to get you in early that's the best we can do" and then no communication followed. I let more time go by and send another email for the third time to get a firm yes. I eventually got a yes to arrive that 1/2 hour early and be able to drop off our luggage and get the baby set up. As we were traveling down from Maine, I received another call saying the property was cleaned and we could go in at 1:30. I was appreciative of that change of time but it didn't change my arrival time since I was already on my way with a planned arrival time of 3:30.
The property was ideally located. We had 8 people for the weekend and received 8 towels. That may sound picky, but one towel for the weekend per person? I didn't choose to do a wash in between the wedding festivities so we made due.
There are many signs posted in the house on "what to do" and "what not to touch". Honestly, a weekend was fine, but I can't imagine using the house for a week with kids with all the "don't" signs. So again, maybe picky but I don't think I'd select that house or management listing again. It was too hard and stressful for what we needed. It was ideally located and suited our needs but there are so many houses in that area that this one could have been stressfree for the planning but just wasn't.
We had such a wonderful week - me, my husband and our 22 year old son, though the house could fit many more on the 2nd floor. Everything was perfect. The house: layout more spacious than appeared in the photos; very clean; well stocked kitchen; comfy beds; character and charm without clutter; backyard with sun and shade and lounge chairs and grill. The location: 10 minute walk from town; 7 minute bike ride to the beach; 2 blocks from a lovely pond with beautiful sunset views. Management: very responsive; organized up to date brochures on things to do. Most relaxing vacation ever. Canât wait to return.
