Bradley Cross Farm, Shepherds Cottage
High on the Mendip Hills, sits a stone cottage on a working farm, with breathtaking views over the Somerset Levels. The cottage was built around 1850 and was formerly occupied by the local shepherd grazing his sheep on this area of the Mendip Hills. Today the land is grazed by the traditional breeds of Longhorn Cattle and Wiltshire Horn Sheep, well suited to managing the natural grassland on the farm. Cheddar Gorge, Site of Special Scientific Interest, lies to the north of the farm and Mascallsâ Wood, an ancient woodland, lies to the west. Cheddar village and local shops are a distance of about 1 mile from the cottage. Ideal for walkers and close to the Mendip Way.
A perfect place to stay in Cheddar! The view is beautiful, and farm eggs kindly offered by Paul and Juddy, delicious! The cottage is equiped with everything you need- including a stove and a microwave. The road to the farm looks a little steep at first, but I had no problem going up the hill with my regular, "economy" rental car.
Paul and Judy gave me great tips to enjoy my quick halt in Bath. And, the Mendip hills area- where the cottage is located- offers very pretty hikes.
Great hosts, and great place to stay!
I highly recommend it if you like/need/want some countryside, not so far from the coast!
Super cosy pet friendly sheperds hut with all necessary facilities! And what a view! Paul and Judy definitely made the stay even better! Highly recommened! Several beautiful walks from the farm and a complete map with loads of tips and activities!
Cosy, compact property overlooking Cheddar and the Somerset Levels. We found the property to be ideal for our short stay with excellent walking direct from the cottage. Paul and Judy were very helpful and made us welcome, helping with any info required. The farm dogs (Meg & Tess) were friendly and interacted well with our dog (Ralph). My advice would be to ensure you thoroughly read the directions to find the property, and your vehicle needs a degree of power to navigate the route to the cottage. However once reached the views are stunning from this small, quirky but comfortable property
Een hele mooie bijzondere plek om te verblijven. Met een verschrikkelijk mooi uitzicht. We hebben genoten van het begin tot het einde. Ook van de prachtige omgeving en behulpzaamheid van de zoon van de eigenaars.
We had a lovely time in this cottage. It's cozy and has all the simple amenities one will need. The family that runs it is lovely and told us all about their farm and the surrounding land.
This accommodation was perfect for my partner and I who needed to be in Cheddar with our dog for a couple of nights. The accommodation was as pictured, the shower was hot and powerful, the kitchen had 2 electric hob rings/microwave and fridge. All the required utensils for simple cooking, tea, coffee and sugar . Logs for the wood burner were also provided.
