Unacceptable Conditions and Gross Negligence at Sonesta Simply Suites Sonesta Simply Suites deceptively markets itself as a non-smoking hotel, a policy they evidently have no intention of enforcing. Despite prominent "non-smoking" signs on every room, the stench of marijuana smoke permeates the hallways, not just cigarette smoke, but the unmistakable and pervasive odor of cannabis. This noxious atmosphere contaminates the entire property, to the point where I carried the reek back into my room, verifiable by my wife. The elevators are no refuge, as the same pervasive marijuana smell runs rampant throughout. This is exacerbated by the fact that this is clearly a long-stay hotel, where residents seem to believe their monthly rent entitles them to disregard basic decency and hotel policy. The true depths of this hotel's squalor became apparent when my toilet clogged. When I requested a plunger, I was met with the dismissive response that I had to retrieve it myself. Upon descending to the lobby, a truly disgusting scene awaited: the solitary public restroom was overflowing with human feces. To add insult to injury, the front desk — with an appalling lack of concern — informed me that the "employees only" restroom was also "not working." So, let's be clear: my room's toilet was unusable, the public facility was a biohazard, and the employee option was conveniently "out of order." This left me, a paying guest, with absolutely no accessible restroom facilities.
