We had to drive a bit out of our way but it ended up being just a quick ferry ride away from a beautiful island. We enjoyed our stay there. Our only complaint would be that we didn't have very good pans to cook with and the basic amenities were lacking a little (we ran out of toilet paper and had no laundry soap). Overall we were pretty satisfied.
The cottage is obviously newly furnished so carpets were not worn and everywhere clean and tidy.
The caretaker lady met us at the house but did not show us around or indicate where the heating or hot water was turned on or off . she seemed in a mad rush and left very quickly .
Actually there were no notes about the house apart from a handwritten note in the downstairs toilet giving the wifi code and telling us to strip our beds before we left.
The previous tenants must have had a dog as there were dog hairs in the living room area and a lot of dog poo on the small patch of grass out the back, which was not ideal as we had our two little grandsons who wanted to run around. the grass had not been mown so one could not see where the poo was!
there was a floor tray in the downstairs toilet with evidence of dog poo at the bottom. not very pleasant!!
One couldn't have the windows open on the street side of the house as the smell of fried food coming from the harbour cafe and Olivers pub was overwhelming!
the kitchen was well equipped apart from there being not a sharp knife in the place. When we enquired to the lady in charge, she went to the house rental next door and produced a few equally blunt knives!
Sadly the bedding was all polyester, including the pillows and duvets which made for sweaty nights.
In the top bathroom, which is spacious, there was not one shelf or table to put a wash-bag on.
Hooks on bathroom doors would be a good idea.
Perfectly adequate house if the weather is good, which sadly it was not, so everyone got on top of one another rather and it suddenly felt rather small.
