Rooms had a strange smell

The hotel was overall ok, the staff was really helpful and friendly. The breakfast was quite good. The rooms were ok, they had an odd smell to them and they were very small. The pullout was not comfortable for an adult to sleep on, and there were minimal extra blankets for it. The balcony had no chairs to sit on either.

Good morning Derreck: I'm sorry your visit wasn't quite up to your expectations. I'd agree, the sofa sleepers are best for small children, not adults. But I think that's true of pretty much every sleeper sofa I've ever seen! As for the smell, I suspect it has to do with the hotel being closed up and all the rain we've been having. Travel safe and the next time you're in Dana Point, we hope to welcome you back to our hotel. Please don't be bashful about asking any hotel for extra blankets if you need them.

Good option close to the Marina
Posted Jan. 30, 2024 on HotelsThe Best Western Plus Marina Shores is an older, but well-kept property. Rooms, bathrooms, and common areas were clean. Water temp and pressure in the morning were very good. Room had a nice little balcony. We asked for an extra housekeeping visit due to a spilled coffee incident and that was accommodated without hesitation. Starbucks and McDonald's across the street and many other food options also nearby. Walk to the marina is about a mile but do-able for adults.
