Very friendly staff. The surrounding is very quiet and beautiful. Just 8-10 minutes from the Durham town centtre by a cab. Breakfast is good! it’s an old property, but very well maintained. What stands out is the service. Every staff you meet are friendly. The hotel really seem to love their guests.

The hotel room needed some updates, the lamp shade was in bits! But overall the friendliness and location won out!

Room generally nice. Toilet seat area was less than clean and seat also needs replacing. Constant humming fan by the door in the room is a bit annoying at night. One irritating thing: If you ask for a breakfast in a take-away container, they'll ask what you specifically want, then smile and nod, but once you open it later, you'll find you got far less than what you asked for. This has happened to me twice now, which means I now get breakfast elsewhere. : (

Recepnist friendly.and very help full . Room fine for price but the bathroom fans very lound. For £60 is a ok stay. Food . Pizza were horrible and the mix fish.platter was terrible.would.stay again because of room price would noy eat at pub. Drinks prices not a total rip off. Didnt have breakfast tea put us off!

The bar was great and the staff lovely. The cooked breakfast was nice but the continental breakfast lacking. The room had mould round the bath and the toilet was grim.but it was a convenient hotel and not expensive so you take your chance I guess. We would book again

Misleading advertising

Offhand when booking in. First room smelled with tiny double bed . Courtyard rooms like sheds. Better rooms not dog friendly. Given a twin room with no guarantee we could stay the next night.

Recent short stay.

Accommodation good value for money. Clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast at an additional cost of £12.50 pppn not so good Continental breakfast very disappointing. Options consisted of....cereals, bread, small selection of fruit. No yogurts, pastries, meats , cheeses , crumpets, pancakes etc. Hot water for Tea and Coffee was supplied in a thermos type jug which obviously only stays hot for so long and unfortunately was never hot enough when we used them. Hot options where ok but some items missing when served and cold when finally served. Due to no fault of his own Server/manager was under severe pressure to serve and replenish breakfast items at the same time. This is due to a lack or additional staff.
