No frills hotel

No frills hotel.We just stayed 6 nights. No pool, no gym. Hotel is right accross from WEM, right beside Jollybee and other restaurants, as well as right by a bus loop. The hotel is clean, and the cleaning ladies do clean nicely. It is a brand-new hotel and the front line staff is nice and pleasant. There is a liquor store right underneath the hotel, which is pretty convenient but also brings homeless people, lots of them all around the place, day and night. Beds are hard, like my hips were hurting so much by day 2, had to book a chiro appt afterwards. They could not accomodate my request for a foam, or mattress toppers, could not change me to a different room as they were full. Had to fold one of the blankets in half to be able to sleep better. Pillows are very high as well. I saw someone's comment before arriving and brought my own pillow. Best decision ever. Hotel is new but built cheaply, toilet seat did not fit toilet bowl, wallpaper peeling off, washroom door not closing properly (too tight), room door had to be manually closed as it wouldnt fully close when we left a few times. There are lots of rolls of fabric just laying behind parking stalls. They provide a dishwasher, microwave and a good size fridge. But if you actually want to use plates you have to ask reception and buy your own cloth and soap. Breakfast options are good but food is actually meh, very tasteless. After 3 days couldnt eat anymore. I would go back for one or two nights max, no more.

Overall we had a good stay, we loved the kitchen sink and kitchen type area in the suite. The breakfast area was pretty small and tight but there were good morning options.

We’d booked three rooms so our family could enjoy time at the West Edmonton Mall and the Baymont was the perfect location with the mall being right across the street. Keannah checked us in and she was so friendly and helpful, starting our weekend getaway perfectly. Our rooms were at least twice the size of most hotel rooms, with so much counter space, a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The continental breakfast area was small, but sufficient for us to get a bite to eat every morning. The area around the property seemed typical for big cities with a few homeless people wandering around. We never felt in danger, but we were aware of our surroundings.

The hotel is very clean. It is very accessible if you are planning to explore the West Edmonton Mall, you can just cross the street (approximately 10 min. walk to the nearest Mall entrance) The hotel also prepared a simple surprise for my son's birthday, we greatly appreciate the gesture. The rooms are in pristine condition and with 3 big TVs on each area. I would definitely recommend staying on this hotel.

Drug additions and homeless people around parking lot. Could see people injecting drugs in the parking lot from our hotel room window. Had to keep blinds closed so my child wouldn’t see. Otherwise, clean and friendly environment!

Property was decent, new, clean but customer service lacking, nothing ready on check in, was told to wait two hours as rooms not ready even though we did the pre check in for our arrival time. Staff didn’t seem to care at all. Breakfast bar lacking and food not available right till the end time. They stopped bringing out food 30 minutes before end time so when we got downstairs at 9 no food available other than cereal.
