Publié le 12 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayVery nice. Quiet neighborhood lovely view of the bay. Jen is a great host. My companion stated that the only thing he could find disappointing was that the furniture could use some up grading. The shower that I thought might be a problem was easy to figure out.

It isn't all about the beautiful view.
Publié le 10 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayLet me start this review by stating that we have stayed at a few rentals in Door County and elsewhere over the years so we are not new to this. Based on the location,amenities, reviews and pictures we (4 adults) rented this cottage for 3 nights. Temps were in mid-80's when we arrived late afternoon, unfortunately the cottage was stuffy and like a sauna. We found the "a/c" standing unit upstairs in loft area and turned it on. Found a standing tower fan in lower bedroom, turned it on, closing all windows. Went out to eat with the hopes that it would be much cooler when we got back at 10:30/11:00pm. Not the case. Too hot for sleeping in the loft area so young couple slept on a broken futon in living room. Texted Jen in the morning after we found out the "a/c" wasn't even vented to the outside! Why was the exhaust hose duct taped to the wall??? The bathroom is a whole other issue. Yes, a pump issue was mentioned in reviews but we had no idea that it would have to be used frequently when showering. Very inconvenient. As mentioned in reviews the place is cute but needs some cleaning touch ups.This is a beautiful spot, the view is as you would want on the water in Door but the view isn't everything. We've never left a bad review but it was such a disappointment regarding our comfort level that we felt it had to be stated.

On this gorgeous 70 ish day, I made the call to leave the windows of the cottage open for the breeze and the AC vent's hose not in the window. I have found the breeze off the lake more delightful than a sealed cottage with an AC unit going. Frankly, this September stay would have been the first time I had connected the AC all season long as Door County missed the heat the rest of the country endured. I am very sorry to not hear from my guests about their discomfort until 7:30 the next morning but thankful to be close by and able to quickly address in person.. Once the vent was put in the window, I was pleased to see how quickly the cottage cooled down and that the next few days of my guests' stay were very comfortable. Per Christine's strong suggestion, I have edited my instructions to include a comment that if AC is required, the hose needs to be vented out the window. As always, I am thankful to have the opportunity to share The Garrett Bay Rest and the beautiful treasure that is lakefront Door County with so many ....For those possible guests that have read this response so far, the futon is not broken, The Rest is very clean, and the quirky pump system works well if not perfectly (stated for clarity, not questioning the veracity of Christine). Ok, but could be better
Publié le 27 août 2023 sur HomeAwayVRBO pictures did not do the property justice. Much more roomy than pictures show. Nicely furnished but needs upkeep for the money spent. Floor boards upstairs are rotting and have holes. Refrigerator froze items. Bin in refrigerator was low and opened from the bottom...hard to access. Knives provided were not sharp. TV is much too small and programming was not free. Hot water in the kitchen was not always available. Lighting could have been brighter. Couldn't light the outdoor grill.
The place was airy and had lots of natural light. Good view of the water. Nice yard. Beds were comfortable. Linens were clean and soft. Communication with the owner was excellent!!
