How close is Golden Door Villa to downtown Gaborone?
I booked to stay here as it was close to Gaborone International School where I was doing some work. I was able to make arrangements with the hotel to provide dinner for me which was a huge help as I did not have my own transport. The villa is a converted house, but as it is less than a year old, everything is new and nice and the renovations have ben nicely done. I was the only person staying in the B&B on the night I was there - but appreciated that the staff still made an effort with breakfast and my dinner. I would stay here again if I was doing work at GIS.
We have indeed had to change our plans based on our experience on arrival at the Golden Door in Gaborone. We were shown to the room called "Pearl" which with a quick look round showed it to be unclean. There was a general damp smell about the room. The mirror sliding wardrobe door had a crack down its full length. There were dirty marks on the sliding door to the bathroom, matchsticks and dirt in the carpet and a general lack of care. In the bathroom we found a finished toilet roll with a new one sat on top the old card spool. The bathroom window had a broken pane of glass missing and when going to reception to report these things overheard another guest complaining that her bathroom window which didn't close was still unfixed after complaining about it three days ago. All in all very disappointing and our cue to leave!
On the positive side we drove around the corner into the road literally behind to find another establishment on your site, this being The Studio Guest House and were greeted by a complete opposite. This is a magnificent guest house which is everything a discerning traveller could require and we will be spending our first three days here and returning again for six more days before we leave Gaborone. Next time we come we will always endeavour to stay here and would like to advise other travellers to follow suit,
