Staff never showed up to open the main building where breakfast and coffee was to be served. We waited for 20 minutes with other guests outside before we left to get our own. Not a fancy place by any means, hot tub was broken, deck had a fire and was never repaired, just a hole in the deck you could fall into. Didn't expect much for the price but come on!

The absolute best bang for our buck in Grand Marais for MEA weekend. Rooms were spacious, refrigerator worked perfectly, they allowed us to use sister property pool as the Aspen Hot Tub was out of service for repairs. I spoke with three different lobby attendants and each were very helpful, kind and respectful! Hotel was full, but never heard another person all weekend. Rooms opened up to the backyard woods & walkway, very private - very quiet. Recommend bringing a company blanket if you are driving, comforters are a bit dated, rough/plastic texture, etc.

We really liked the location. It was quiet and close to downtown and dining (walkable if you like to walk). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quite run down, but the important items (bed and bathroom) were clean. The bed was very comfortable. All in all, we had a nice stay.
