Beautiful beach, adequate room

Posted Feb. 24, 2024 on Hotels
The hotel is in a good location. There are a few restaurants and a couple bars nearby, but if nightlife is your thing, stay in Saint Lawrence Gap. The beach is beautiful, and the sea is calm here. They do not allow umbrellas on the beach, but there are some trees that provide some shade. We ended up walking to Savvy on the Bay or the Tiki Bar to rent chairs and an umbrella each day. The room was nice enough, but the bed was like sleeping on concrete. The best part of the room is the balcony. It's big enough to do yoga on. There is no elevator, so beware if you have a lot of luggage, or mobility issues. The average age of other guests was over 60 when we visited, so there were no kids, and it was quiet by 10pm each night. Would we stay here again? I'm conflicted. The price was great, and the kitchenette was adequate. We caught the bus ($7 US for 2) or a taxi ($12 US) each way to go to the Gap each night. Walking to the Savvy and the Tiki bar was worth it because the drinks are excellent, and the rental price is reasonable ($20 US at Savvy, $30 at Tiki but includes a drink coupon). I didn't see any other hotel that made me want to stay there instead. But don't book this hotel expecting 5-star luxury. It does have a 5-star view and beach.

Dear Anonymous, thanks so much for choosing to stay with us at Coconut Court. Thanks for noting our good location. St Lawrence Gap is a quick 10-minute drive away from the hotel and many guests enjoy being close but not in the nightlife. We planted lots of trees on the beach to provide natural shade from the sun and of course, we have lots of free sunbeds for our guests to enjoy. No need to go to another beach and pay extra money for that. We do get more mature guests in the peak winter months as the flight prices and room rates are more expensive at that time. However, in the less expensive summer and shoulder months, we see many younger guests and families with children. If guests are concerned about steps, then please just let us know that you would prefer a room located on the pool deck, car park level, or a low floor and we will do our best for you. Thanks again, for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back to Coconut Court again in the near future. Yours sincerely, Linda Lampkin (owner)

The workers were overall rude. Acted very different as soon as money was tipped. No manners and very arrogant. It was SUPER costly for the service we were receiving. They charged you FOR EVERYTHING. That includes trying to charge you for BEACH TOWELS to change them for new ones. You have to pay to attend the activities.. imagine that. No it was not cheap. This is 3 star hotel, charging you everything you can possibly image. Do not come here, find somewhere better to stay.

Dear Irma, I was shocked to read your comments. We regularly receive such nice reviews from so many of our guests about how kind and polite our team is here at Coconut Court. They are really a nice bunch of people at our hotel. Your comments just don't make sense. yes, we charge a small fee of US3 to exchange beach towels. Bath towels and linens in guest rooms are changed on request at no cost. The beach towel levy is a measure that we put in place several years ago to stop guests from changing their beach towels too frequently and unnecessarily. We were laundering in excess of 500 beach towels per day. It was out of control! This is not a money-making scheme - I am pleased to say that this measure has significantly reduced the laundry process and has been a big help to our fragile island environment. Most of our guests understand and appreciate what we are doing to help keep our island beautiful. All of the entertainment including movies on the beach with popcorn, are free of cost to all of our guests. We also host a manager's rum punch party every Monday night with free rum and fruit punch and snacks from 6-7pm. We have live entertainment several nights per week and there is no cost to our guests. The only activity with a cost to guests is the paint and sip activity on Saturdays with an artist tutor who teaches the guests and supplies them with paints and stretched canvases. Each participant receives a free glass of wine while painting. I must respect your opinion, but I think that your review is very misleading and unkind. Yours sincerely, Linda Lampkin (owner)

Great location & beach and the room was huge. The balcony was a favourite spot for our morning coffee & breakfast. Only disappointment was the restaurant connected to the hotel, Jakes (across the street), expensive for very mediocre food. Overall a great vacation.

Wonderful place to stay for 4 nights. Staff are extremely friendly! Beautiful hotel - definitely upgrade for ocean view room! Great snorkeling on site. It was quiet, peaceful and not crowded in January. Close to boardwalk and multiple restaurants. Small market nearby for groceries and a couple of excellent restaurants across the street. George Washington house is worth the short walk to visit and food at their cafe is delicious. We only walked to areas nearby since our stay was short so can’t say anything about the overall island. Only cons - food on site at restaurant is expensive but beautiful settings and they do deliver to beach and pool! It would be nice if they raked the beach every morning. Can’t say enough good things about the security. They helped move beach chairs, offered to take a photo, provided area tips and even gave a hug and “come back because you’re family now”. Met one of the friendly owners - support this family owned resort!
