This hotel is very convenient. The bus stop from/to the airport is very near; so are the local bus stops and street train station. The shopping area and restaurants are all within walking distance.

bad old hotel with shady business practices.

I booked for non-smoking and they gave me a smoking room. Then when I complained and asked how to open window, they said non-smoking room windows don't open. So they lied and gave me a smoking room that I could barely breathe, but they also lied again to cover the lie. When I swiped the wall with some wet tissue, it was stained yellow with Tobacco stain. The bathtub has openings with it and the wall and most likely nice things like mildew is built up in there with water getting in there all the time. There were mildew stains on edges of walls etc. This hotel is old and needs major renovation. Internet connection was just average speed and reliability. Only thing that was good is the checkout time of 11am. Will never stay again.

Affordable, well located, incredibly helpful staff

The rooms are small and not very soundproof. But the affordability and location make it a good choice. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and nice. The rooms are clean and well serviced by the cleaning staff.

Nicest staff ever. Hotel manager is super nice. Very minimal English spoken but they try really hard to accommodate. it's very basic and good for a nights stay. Simple. You can take the tram or bus right outside to the Kagoshima Chuo station easily.

Room was larger than average

This hotel is just a block or two away from the Tenmonkan shopping area, so it's very convenient. Also, it's the closest hotel to the airport bus pickup for Tenmonkan. As a business class hotel in Japan, it's roomier than you'd expect. My main complaint would be that the air conditioning system was noisy to the point of waking me up a couple times. I think it was my room though, because I have stayed in this hotel before and never had that problem. So no frills kind of hotel with a bigger than average room.

Tenmonkan access

A typical "business class" type of hotel but the room was quite a bit larger than most hotels of the same class. The breakfast was only so-so. The fish was old and dry and the eggs were not much better. The rice was also of a rather poor quality. But there was enough selection to eat a full breakfast. The best feature of the hotel (besides the price) is the location. It is the closest hotel to the Airport Limousine bus pickup (just across and up the street). And since it's in the middle of Tenmonkan, there's a ton of shopping right there too. If you have trouble finding it (there's a large sign on the building, but there are quite a few buildings of similar shape, so it doesn't stand out that much), then from the Tenmonkan streetcar station, cross to the south side of the street and follow the overhead awning (for about half a block or so). When the awning ends, you're about 10 meters from the front door.
