Walkers Paradise

We stayed here as a mini moon with our 2 dogs. We expected cabins in the middle of the country side. Yes the site was in the middle of the country however the cabins were all together on a carpark! The neighbours no matter how nice were so close and you could hear every thing they were doing throughout the stay. The cabin however was lovely and clean and a perfect base to go hiking and exploring every day. The surrounding area has really struggled to get back on its feet after the lockdowns and pandemic and loads of places were shut or on reduced menus/timetables. We made the most of what we had and enjoyed our stay, but had to be organised and look up what we were doing and where we were eating beforehand!

Mediocre

Mid-terrace, basic studio apartment. Noise from neighbours. One double in bedroom, one sofa bed - new but typical saggy sofa bed discomfort. Water barely warm enough to shower. Expensive electricity rate. Grubby pull cord in bathroom. Cupboard smelled of urine. Piece of dried dog food on shelf. Old cardboard in cupboard. Freezer needs defrosting. No view of hills (this was explained). Automatic outdoor light on all night - no control to override (waste of power and bright into sofa bed). Cobwebs in door frames. Insufficient soap and toilet paper. Would not recommend. Plus point - Friendly manager.

I'm sorry that you felt your experience wasn't up to our usual high standards that we regularly receive positive feedback about. We will look into your comments to see what we can do for the benefit of future guests. It's disheartening that you have found the sofabed to be uncomfortable as this is a brand new addition to the Hazel Lodge costing in excess of £1,000 so we'll look into this further in case there's a manufacturing problem with it. We do encourage guests to raise any matters directly with us during a stay as we also live on the site, and had you done this we would I'm sure have been able to rectify some of these points for you so that you had a more enjoyable stay. The Hazel Lodge is a basic lodge on the cheaper end of our price spectrum and is intended to provide guests with a cosy & comfortable base to explore the local area and beyond. We provide a supply of toilet paper but our lodges are 'self-catering' and not fully serviced apartments, so what we provide is intended to last guests a few days until they're able to do a local shop. The electricity tariff is not expensive and it's not something we profit from. As a rural commercial business, it's worth noting that there's not as much choice with regards to electricity tariffs as you would find in the city, and the structure/fabric of our holiday lodges is different to what you would find in a well insulated house as an example. This is a point that occasionally gets overlooked. Lovely stay

We visited for two night while attending a wedding along the road. Very clean property with lovely hosts. Area for kids to play football and play as well as small fire pit area. Beautiful part of the world.

A perfect place for visiting the area

I loved the welcome and friendly owners. Nothing was too much for guests to have a good holiday. The lodge was well equipped and lovely and cool inside which was a bonus since it was very hot during the week. The property had a veranda and so being able to sit outside in the evening was a bonus. Very comfortable bed. Water could have been a little hotter. All in all a wonderful week. Thank you.

Brilliant stay

Only issue was being to hear your neighbours talking lack of privacy. But accommodation lively, great location friendly people and well equipped.

Lovely little holiday cabin

Nice, well equipped cabin, friendly welcome, clean and tidy site. Glenda mentioned they are putting a climbing frame in too. We will be back!

Lovely break

Didn't stay in the original booked cabin but did get a upgrade. Absolutely stunning cabin with stunning views cant fault anything.
