600' of Waterfront Chauncey Creek House, fenced yard, office, walk to the beach
Private and quiet, with room to roam, the Chauncey Creek House is a very special place for all to gather, anytime of the year. The house rests on 600 ft of waterfront on Chauncey Creek, a tidal waterway between Gerrish Island and the mainland. Nearly two acres of property provide room for water access (from our pier), interesting wildlife, and a fire pit with plenty of chairs to relax around the fire. There is a fenced yard for your pet. Walk the beautiful terrain and safely enjoy a stroll to the beach along Tower Road, a private, low-traffic road in this rural, residential neighborhood. The Chauncey Creek House has deeded access to Crescent Beach, just a 5-minute walk. From Crescent, it is only another 5-10 minutes along the beach to popular Seapoint Beach. The property borders (across the water) the neighboring Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge, and the only residential neighbor is across the street on the landward side of the house. Miles and miles of wooded hikes are available; map provided. A total of 6 guests can sleep and enjoy the Chauncey Creek House. The three bedrooms are upstairs (two twin beds in one bedroom and a queen bed in 2nd bedroom and a king in the largest bedroom). The largest bedroom features a sitting area by the window. There are 1Ÿ baths: one full bathroom upstairs with a vanity sink, beautiful claw foot bath tub with high-end fixtures, and toilet. This bathroom upstairs has two doors- one off the largest bedroom and the other off the hallway. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower with high-end fixtures, sink and toilet. All rooms have new windows, the downstairs water side has huge bay windows. These multiple windows, doorways and screen-porches allow excellent circulation of sea breeze off the Atlantic from Crescent Beach (about 2000 feet away across the salt marsh) or northwest winds off the abutting Creek. There are two AC units for the waterside bedrooms. Downstairs features a large living room with fireplace, in a separate room is a private office with desk/chair/printer set up and a couch. The dining room /kitchen area features large windows and a bar. As noted, there is a screened-in porch on the eastern (ocean-side) end of the house equipped with a small dining table with access to the propane-fired Weber grill. and fenced in back yard. An additional porch, open to the afternoon sun, is located off the northwest side of the house picking up the NW wind and lovely views of the sunset and the fire pit. There is rustic arbor with chairs on the point that is lovely for watching the kingfishers, osprey, and other birds feed. The continuous rise and fall of the tide make for an evolving environment to watch. Children are welcomed guests. We have a playpen, gate, and high seats for your convenience. We have limited fishing supplies and a crab trap. The walk-out basement is equipped with a ping pong table, picnic supplies and yard and board games. It also has a water view. The home provides a large grassy fenced in lawn for your pet and another for the garden. The 2,500 sq. ft home welcomes guests with warm, colorful walls, hardwood and soft pine floors and inviting comfortable furniture. The home is a modified cape house, with serene views of the tidal water and National Wildlife Refuge and access to over 600 feet of water front and pier. From each room, large windows offer views of the large pine and oak trees, high-bush (and low) blueberries, small maple trees, sea grass. and the quiet waterfront beyond. This is a property that friends and family frequent, so guests will find all the necessary conveniences of home like cookware, utensils, spices, oils and serving bowls and trays to present any small or large meal. There are typically basic condiments left in the refrigerator. The kitchen's large, open floor plan accommodates those that find themselves gathering in the kitchen, awaiting the next delicious meal. The large bay windows allow guests to catch sightings of wildlife and watch the ebb of flow of the creek's tide, just steps away. The chairs under the wisteria vine on the point are perfect for coffee or a glass of wine. You will have plenty of options on where to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Picturesque Kittery Point is part of Kittery, Maine's oldest and southernmost town. Adjacent to York, it retains the unspoiled charm of a historic fishing village. Kittery has many lovely restaurants. There is plenty of scenery from any directions when traveling to Chauncey Creek House, along Maine Route 103 and US HWY 1A. Itâs a pretty drive that winds past coastal cottages, salt marshes and forested properties. The rock fences and classic New England homes and historic buildings line the road, as it curves and edges past the water, with views of bobbing lobster boats anchored in the harbor. Fort Foster, a lovely Town park (minimal entry fee) is located at the opposite end of Gerrish Island, less than five minutes by car, ten by bicycle (not provided), and 20-25 by foot with some lovely path options through the center of the island. The park provides great picnicking, waterfront walking paths, swimming access, and great views of Portsmouth Harbor and Pepperell Cove, Kittery Point. Other great hiking is available in the Wildlife Refuge and at other accessible trails shown on the guestâs arrival data. Guests are welcome to use the two kayaks, one canoe and row boat that are near the pier or bring boats. The property has a private dock and float. Launch from either the salt marsh or the dock, depending on the tide. However, there is not a launch for boat trailers on the property. Keep in mind that the tide comes and goes twice each day for anywhere from 8-11 feet. Fishing is also popular on the creek. This was our second Thanksgiving at Chauncey Creek, and we hope to have many more! Lucy and David's house is beautiful--the perfect place to relax and gather with family and friends. The location is magical, the house very much feels like home, and Lucy and David are warm and welcoming hosts. Five stars doesn't do Chauncey Creek justice; it deserves more!
This home was a wonderful home base after going on a hike that surrounded you with comfort and attention to the details from having everything you need in the kitchen to sitting back on the deck relaxing with your favorite beverage.Everything in this home showed attention to comfort and quality of every element of your stay.
Great location and very comfortable house! We loved having the creek in our backyard and being so close to beaches and everything else. Communication with Lucy was great. We canât wait to come back!
I think that the fact that this is our fourth year coming to Kittery says it all. We love the location. The tidal creek is great for paddle boards or kayaks. The beach is soooo private and just a short walk. I still cannot believe how few people are on the beach at any given time. We hope to return next year.
We consider quitting our jobs and Maineâs squatters rights every time vacation ends and itâs time to leave the Chauncey Creek house. We love the house, location and vibe. Canât wait to be back next year.
Our family had a wonderful weekend stay at this cozy home located on a beautiful, very private property located right on Chauncey Creek. We had a few family members over for a 90th bday and the kitchen was so well stocked it helped greatly for the small things we hadn't thought to bring. The ping pong table, board games and whole house stereo were a huge plus. The house was immaculate yet still so warm/cozy. Communication with Lucy & David was seamless. They were always so responsive. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home with the incredible views of Chauncey Creek.
After a long dreary winter, my family needed a week away to decompress. This was a fantastic home to do it in! My husband and I were still able to work from the comfy office, we played games and ping pong as a family, and explored the area and took walks along the beautiful road and nearby beach. The morning coffee view became a quick routine and must do. Lucy was a gem and so responsive. Everything we could need was there! Thanks for sharing such a special place!
We loved our stay at Chauncey Creek. House was very cozy and comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Kittery Point is a beautiful area, and the house had a lovely view. We had a great time exploring the area as well as just hanging out at the house by the fire with our friends listening to some good tunes with the help of their great stereo system. Owners were easy to communicate with, too.
My husband and I took our little one to see snow for the first time. We came at the perfect time and got in just before a winter snow storm. The property had a beautiful wood burning fireplace inside to stay warm and a fully loaded kitchen for us to cook just like at home: there was nothing I needed in the kitchen as they have everything you need. Theyâre great about leaving some general supplies too which really came in handy-shampoo and conditioner and plenty of trash bags and toilet paper and paper towels (quite a few vrbo leave you with whatâs there from before and you stock your own). We plan to visit again in the summer and use the canoes to check out the lake that the house sits on. They have a large yard and we were even able to go sledding right there in the back and build an awesome snowman in the fenced in front yard. The communication and preparation for a safe arrival just before a snow storm was comforting and very clear and quick. We enjoyed the cold nights in the basement playing ping pong too. I highly recommend.
The weather outside was frightful. But our stay inside was cozy and wonderful. What a great place to sit and watch the weather roll through and the tide come and go. We also made several walks down the road to the stone beach. And Kittery was conveniently close letting us pop in to Lil's every morning for coffee and breakfast. Everything was just how the listing and photos describe it. Loved our winter stay. We would definitely enjoy seeing what the summer season is like.
We had a wonderful stay visiting nearby family in Portsmouth during the Christmas holiday. We loved exploring the beautiful island, and the house had everything we needed for 4 adults, 2 kids, and a dog. The host was amazingly available/communicative. Would stay again!
Magical Thanksgiving Weekend at Chauncey Creek House!
Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at Chauncey Creek House. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated, and it is immaculate. The location is spectacular--with amazing views of Chauncey Creek and a wonderful mix of mature evergreens and white birches. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked--which made it easy for us to host a holiday dinner for family and friends in the area. And Lucy was a warm and welcoming host. It didn't feel a bit like a rental; it felt like we were borrowing the house of good friends with great taste in art and books. Thanks so much, Lucy and David, for sharing your wonderful house. We very much look forward to returning!
Loved our stay, we all were very comfortable in the house - Lots of space , fenced yard was great for the pooch. Close to everything. We would definitely come back
Loved our stay in this quiet, peaceful and homey vrbo. So many nice touches- wine in the fridge, hotel collection bathrobes, beautiful landscaping and views of the water. Loved seeing all the egrets, blue heron and wild turkeys. Thank you fir a wonderful stay.
The property was absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed kayaking on the creek, walks around the neighborhood and the nearby beaches. It was the perfect place to stay for a week in Maine. We really appreciated the kitchen being so well stocked making it easy to cook meals at home. And the fenced in yard was perfect for our pups. We loved our week in Kittery..thank you for letting us stay at our beautiful home.
We love staying at the Chauncey Creek house . We enjoy the private beach not to far from the house ! We enjoyed the kayaks and my husband and son even went out in the canoe this year !
Itâs a great location to be so close to the outlets not to far from York and Kennebunkport ! We look forward to staying there again next year !
This was our third trip to the Chauncey Creek house. It never disappoints. The neighborhood is perfect. It has quiet private roads with easy access to a beautiful, almost private, beach. The creek behind the house is perfect for a kayak or paddle board. The walking and biking are great.
This home was absolutely gorgeous the view every morning and sunsets every night were breathtaking. The neighborhood was quiet and everyone seemed to keep to themselves so no noisy neighbors asking you all types of questions. The lake was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the dock and also the âbeachâ like area right behind the house. The house itself was very nicely decorated and spacious and clean. The host was very nice and informative, this was by far the best place Iâve stayed at and Iâve stayed at a couple of properties here on Vrbo but this one really was the best!
We canât say enough good things about this vacation home. The peaceful setting, immaculate condition, and location are unmatched.
This was our second stay and we hope to return in the future.
Your home is lovely and just as pictured.
Our stay was fun and full of activities. We hiked the Cutts Island Trail in the Rachel Carson Refuge, visited Fort McLary, Fort Foster, the Portland Head Lighthouse, Portland Childrenâs Museum and Theatre, and an educational visit to Seacoast Science Center where we learned about different Owl species.
Fantastic week and visit with our daughterâs family!
Thank you for providing a wonderful home for our retreat.
This lovely home on Chauncey Creek has beautiful views and a welcoming environment. Lucy was a great communicator. A stunning rental in an idyllic spot.
