Property is close direct across from train station. Finding the reception took me a while. Hotel a bit outdated but very clean.

This place was cool, and had an emphasis on Americanism, with President roooms including a JFK room. It was really nice to experience! We noticed lot of school kids stayed in the hotel, probably for the American historical context, or that it was just right by one of the main train stops. Either way, the people in this area are all so nice and friendly, way more thab the big city of Tokyo. Genuinely enjoyed our stay around this place, and there's a ton of food options nearby, including a giant mall. The room we stayed in was pretty big, and the hotel staff are very helpful! Definitely reccomend staying here to explore the area, and to go visit Otsu and Koka Ninja House which isnt far from this hotel.

This is a mixed of smoking and non-smoking hotel. At first, our non-smoking room smelled very strong of cigarettes smoke when the A/AC was turned on, but the receptionist was very nice and moved us to a different room that smelled better. I think the smoke was just inside the air condition system, so if you’re sensitive make sure to select the non-smoking room, although didn’t guarantee that it will be free of smell. Other than the smell everything is great. Right in front of the train station, great amenities. They give you bath salt, PJs, fridge, pants ironing board, there’s Lawson in the building. Theres is also a shopping mall and large supermarket nearby.

Amazing Stay!

Nicely fancy and cosy!

Everything was great, the breakfast buffé is recommended with it's varied selection of food, lots of different Japanese cuisine available, with an excellent, cosy morning mood together with it.

Convenient and Comfortable

The Boston Hotel is literally steps just outside the JR Kusatsu train station. If traveling by train, the convenience really can't be beat. The room was very clean and well maintained, though small as with many Japanese rooms. Only 2 people can fit so we had 2 rooms for a family of 4 and it worked great. There were slippers and a sleeping gown to freely use and the selection of toiletries was surprisingly robust. The service was exceptional as we had no trouble speaking with the lobby staff and even the cleaning crew were all smiling and so helpful. There is a Lawson's convenience store attached to the hotel so late night munchies, toiletries, or a run to the ATM are without worry. The bottom floor has a mid-size restaurant. In the morning it offers a full buffet breakfast with a huge array of foods like scrambled eggs and sausages, misi soup and fish, steamed vegetables, cereals and breads. I highly recommend the breakfast for it's selection and quality, especially if it is included. This is a wonderful hotel just a 20 minute train ride from Kyoto station that won't be nearly as crowded, provides excellent service, and is a great jumping point for many of your adventures in Japan. The trains are normally not as packed as other lines around Kyoto.
