Beautiful 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home on a quiet cove on Lake Gaston

Our home has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It sits on a quiet cove on Lake Gaston. The main floor master has a king size sleep number bed and full bath with tub and shower. There are three bedrooms on the second floor with queen beds and 2 full baths with tubs. The 5th bedroom is on the 3rd floor where we have a queen futon with a single bunk overhead and a twin size day bed with a twin trundle. We have an open living/dining/kitchen area which leads to the sun room all of which have great lake views. A large gas grill is available for your use. We have an air conditioned game room with a pub style ping pong and shuffleboard table. We have a corn hole set for your enjoyment and a fire pit for those cool evenings. We have 3 kayaks and 1 canoe with paddles and PFDs for your use. We have several rafts for all ages. Spectrum high speed internet and YouTube TV are available. We have 4 TVs in the home. A starter supply of paper products is provided. We have a washer and dryer and laundry products are included in your rental. We also provide linens at no extra charge. The beds will be freshly made upon your arrival. The kitchen is well stocked and there is an extra refrigerator for your use in the game room.

Lake Gaston is one of the premiere fishing lakes in North Carolina and Virginia. Bass, stripers, walleye and catfish make this one of the top fishing destinations in the eastern US. It also provides many coves and backwaters for canoe, kayak and small craft anglers.

Mrs Denise and Mr Gary were very welcoming from the first start of communication. They made our arrival come with ease. They responded and communicated very well. The home is nice and had everything you could possibly think of. We spent a lot of time playing ping pong and shuffle board in the game room. We got a chance to make s’mores over the fire pit. My family wishes to return during the warmer months so we can actually venture out onto the lake. I hope we were as good of visitors as they were hosts!!

We had a family gathering at this wonderful lake house, and it was exactly what we were looking for! This large, beautiful house is located on a quiet cove of Lake Gaston, with easy access into the water for boating and floating. We appreciated being off the main channels of the lake on the holiday weekend, and we loved seeing all of the wildlife and birds in the area. The house had plenty of space for our multigenerational family, both in terms of bedrooms and in terms of space to spread out. My personal favorite was the beautiful sunroom, which had a view of the lake and received morning sun through the trees. I appreciated that we could eat at the large dining table or out on the back porch, and I also loved that when I was downstairs I couldn't hear everyone moving around upstairs. The kitchen had everything you could think of, from an air fryer to giant toaster to a crock pot, and we really appreciated having another refrigerator out in the game room. Denise and Gary were super easy to communicate with, and they were excellent hosts. They left lots of snacks and s'more stuff for us upon arrival. We also loved the many options for water fun, from noodles and inflatables to kayaks, a canoe, and lots of pfds of all shapes and sizes. Finally, while we did not have small children, we appreciated the fenced in area and gate from the deck to protect younger guests. This place is fantastic, and we would love to stay again!

Beautiful home on a quiet inlet on Lake Gaston. We appreciated the ability to dock our boat alongside the owner's boat dock. The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed from bedding to bath and kitchen essentials. The firepit, kayaks and swingset were bonuses! The hosts were a pleasure to work with.

Good family getaway

Our family enjoyed our stay very much, the host were excellent and the house is well equipped. The indoors was very clean but the deck and outdoors furniture were not as clean as we would have liked. You cannot swim off the dock, but we managed to kayak out and swim.

Fun Family Vacation

Communication with the property owner was great throughout the process. The property met the expectations set by the pictures. Having access to Kayaks was particularly nice. While the cove may look constrained at the site of the dock, we had no issues getting our boat in and out of the cove throughout the week.

Wonderful time in Lake Gaston

We can't say enough great things about our trip to Lake Gaston and our stay at this home. Our two families had plenty of room to rest and also fellowship together. The kitchen was well stocked, and the owners even had snacks and smores for us upon arrival. It was easy to navigate in and out of the cove on our jet skis or just floating around in floats (we brought floats and the home had additional for us to use). The deck is so close to the dock and the backyard was perfect for yard games. Thank you again for allowing us to share your home for our trip!

Lake House

This is the third time that we have stayed at this home in the last four years. All of our children are spread out around the country (miltary) and it is hard to get everyone together at the same time. Plenty of room for our whole crew, great access for our rental pontoon boat, fenced side yard with swing set for the little ones. everything we need to relax and reconnect. Even the three five-year-old grandkids consider this the vacation place now. Thank you for allowing us to use your home.

Armstrong Cottage

The grill was very dirty & the grease trap must have been full, so when we tried to heat the grill, it caught on fire. We had to use a extinguisher to put it out. The cleaning lady adamantly claimed that she had cleaned it earlier but the tray under the grates was very dirty. However, the writeup on the cottage DID state that the grill is not part of the normal cleaning service. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful place to stay!

We loved our stay! The house had plenty of room for our three families including three kids. The house had everything we needed and so many extras to make our stay so fun and special! We loved taking the kayaks and canoes out and enjoyed the games in the garage. We took the kids to the public beach where the water is shallow and they had so much fun! We would recommend this house without hesitation!

Family reconnection

This is the second time we stayed at this property the first time in June 2021 and June 2023 and both times it was great. Our children are spread out all over the country being in the military, so it is really hard to get everyone together at the same time. The house is wonderful and very comfortable, feels like home as soon as you walk in. It is right on the lake on a very quiet back cove for fishing, swimming and tying the rental boat up. The back deck is very relaxing to be able enjoy the water view especially in the early morning and evenings. It has a fenced side yard with a swing set the for the little one's and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows for their smores. It has plenty of life jackets in all sizes plus a canoe and three kayak's to paddle around the cove. It has all the cooking equipment for any meal. We plan to come back as soon as we can. When we think of going to the lake house this is where we think of.

Great property!

This house was cozy and private. The only “issue” was that our pontoon is large and docking was difficult with the other pontoon already there. The owners were quick to answer questions and accommodating. We will definitely use this property again!

Relaxing getaway

The house was clean and very well equipped from kitchen items to toiletries and a welcoming basket of goodies. We enjoyed the 2 living room spaces. The outdoor deck accommodated 6 adults easily which was great because that's where we spent a lot of time. It was easy to communicate with the hosts.

Quiet and peaceful location

This was our 3rd year and 3rd location at Lake Gaston celebrating our annual family vacation.Denise and Gary not only provided a comfortable and clean home but they also provided excellent communication throughout our booking process, pre arrival and departure. Everything was in working order, the kitchen was fully stocked with all appliances, plenty of dishes, pots and pans and utensils. The grill was used multiple times. We enjoyed the extra fridge and freezer as well. Both sitting areas with large screen TVs were an asset as well. The location was conveniently located near the public boat launch, as well the grocery store was within about a 10 minute drive. We look forward to the opportunity to return next year.

Plenty of room for family with 3 married children!

We had a very fun 1st annual lake vacation at Idle Zone! When we weren’t out on our boat, The three levels of bedrooms, the garage games, and the kayaks/canoe all gave us plenty to take advantage of to make for a delightful family vacation. We even found the yard with room for some outdoor games. The driveway, though narrow, was a loop that made maneuvering the boat and trailer in and out simple and the extremely close boat ramp is public and super well kept! The dock is on a very quiet and still (almost too still) cove. Tying up at the dock was not a problem but was not the most convenient either. As we were informed ahead of time, the pontoon boat occupies the boathouse. Once out we were able to find smooth water nearby for wakeboarding, skiing, and tubing. This made it easy to return to the dock for lunch, or equipment/ people change out or just to relax. The dock was great for this especially since the trees provided some very nice shade during the day. The house is very close to the water and has nice decks we used to eat and gather. We used the kitchen every night and were all able to eat together around the table! Very important to us. Overall I highly recommend Idle Zone for a fun family lake vacation! LOVE!

Communication with Denise was easy and timely. Kitchen is stocked with everything anyone could possibly need. House is very cozy, sunroom nice and big for our crew. Beds comfy, linens and towels, clean and soft. Highly recommend this house. ENJOYED our week for sure.
