wonderful service

I had an excellent experience at this hotel. As a western women traveling alone in India it can be difficult to communicate and move around safely. The owner/ manager of this hotel went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. He picked me up at the train station (at not additional charge) and helped me to meet all of my needs including calling safe taxis, calling home and keeping the high speed internet up and running. The room was very comfortable with AC and cable and any type of food I desired was brought promptly to my door. Even though I have left the hotel it continues to be a resouce for me, helping me to make arrangements with onward travel and anything else I need. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly to lost foreigners who may need some TLC. A great deal for the money!

Budget Hotel but not good if with family

Hotel Samrat is a budget hotel with very basic amenities and might be good for the people who are traveling alone for business purpose. But in case you are traveling with family and especially children, it is better to avoid it. I stayed in a Deluxe Room but the room was not worth it. The 'Double-Bed' was pretty small and the mattress was on diet :) and we had a hard time to adjust on it along with our 2 year old daughter. There is no kitchen and the lunch & dinner is served from a nearby restaurant which is good but over-priced It scores more on cleanliness and co-operative staff. The Manager is a nice person and is ready to help you always and is a resourceful man. He booked radio cabs for us to travel through the city even when we were outside the hotel.
