Many guests are marginally homeless, but it did not feel unsafe. Funky smell in the corridor, but the room was fine and clean. Convenient to shopping and dining and downtown. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Madison on my own dime.

The bare necessities, and less

On the plus side, the front desk clerk was cheerful and competent under pressure (long check-in line, computer screw-ups), and the room was clean. On the negative side, no fridge, no microwave, no coffee maker, no shampoo, for pete's sake. I understand that Model 6 is not the Four Seasons, but we paid full list because there was a big concert in town, so this was all double annoying.

The AC was broken and we weren’t told about it. It was hot and muggy in the room making it miserable to stay in.

Upon arrival it was evident how outdated the hotel is. The windows are cloudy, the curtains are broken in many rooms, there are boards in the window tracks to secure the windows from the inside. We also noted it is located right next to a plasma donation center and there were several homeless people in the hotel parking lot. The young lady at the front desk had been working for nearly 24 hours straight, but she was pleasant and personable when checking us in. She was the ONLY positive part of our stay! Within 10 minutes of arriving, an ambulance and fire truck flew into the parking lot. One of the firemen approached us and asked if we were staying at the Motel 6. We replied yes, and he told us, “Don’t stay here. Go anywhere else in town, but do not stay at this place. Trust us.” Apparently there are people who live there by the week. Unfortunately, due to the sold out concert we were in town for, there were no other rooms available within a 90 minute radius of Madison. The hallways were filthy, but our room was “clean-ish” for the most part. It was very outdated and in bad shape. The tables and dresser were falling apart, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, the air conditioner barely worked, and we did kill one cockroach. We got back to our room at 2 am and tried to sleep but after seeing the cockroach we got in our car and left. Can’t believe we had to pay over $300 for this place! It really just needs to be demolished.

This place was dirty and it appeared they had people living there and a door was rigged to allow people in and out at all times. We booked through hotel.com and evidently the reservation didn't go through correctly and only had one room instead of 2 as requested. I have to say that the woman working the desk was super nice and working hard. The cleaning people seemed to be working hard as well. There was a line of people out the door waiting to check in...very busy check-in time due to local concert.

We were so disappointed with this property. When we walked into room 130 it smelled and was dirty. The bathtub wouldn’t drain, had 3 inches of water in it and the was dirty with a black ring around the back of it. We immediately called the front desk who asked when we’re checking out and then hung up. However, we felt lucky to get a room because most hotels were sold out due to concert at Camp Randall. It was late so we decided to deal with it in the morning. The bed were extremely uncomfortable and small. The tv was on, which made us feel like it was someone’s room. The next morning we called about the bathtub again The front desk person said they would call someone about it. We were very clear that we needed to take showers by 2 pm to go to our child’s graduation from residency at UW Madison School of Health. When we returned to our room at 2:30 our keys to our room wouldn’t work and the tub wasn’t fixed. The clerk was by herself and trying her best but there were an immense amount of people checking in for the concert. She said maintenance didn’t work weekends and she had been working since 5 pm the previous night and was so busy checking in other guests. She told us to just hang out in the hall and hung up. I went to the desk, got our keys redone so we could get our suitcases and cancelled for the 2nd night. We have traveled extensively in the US and Europe and this was the worst hotel e have ever been to. Over $200 a night for a disgusting place. Shame on the owners!

I reserved a room back in April, we checked in, no room was available, we came back and the room was never cleaned. There was garbage and food in our room still. Beds were not cleaned. I asked for a refund which the worker said yes, he’d give me one and we left.
