While working on business in Atlanta, this farm girl needed a break to recharge with the outdoors during my weekend off. This place was PERFECT for that. Itâs nestled a little over 4000ft up into the Blue Ridge Mountains with wonderful sunrise and sunset views. Other renters spoke of a creek nearby - itâs literally right outside your door. The decor is delightful and thoughtful - the little cabin is the perfect place to unplug from the outside world, your phone, and electronics.
Even though I went during the off season, there were still a few shops and diners open in Maggie valley on the weekend. Cherokee is also quite close - visit Daveâs Diner for a fry bread taco (amazing) or the authentic Native American shops. While youâre on your way, donât forget to hit up BearMeatâs Den - another incredible authentic Native American store with items made from the locals. They will even ship your goods to your home if you donât have the room in your suitcase (came in handy!) Soco Falls is also a waterfall stop on the way into town that was wonderful to experience.
It was a quick weekend but jam packed with relaxing things in the area. If youâre coming during the winter months, I would recommend nothing less than all wheel drive with 4WD preferred. The hill off the main road is quite steep and could be a challenge with unquipped vehicles.
Kerry is an awesome host. Perfect little place for you, your significant other, and maybe a kid or two if you donât plan on spending much time in the cabin. Next to the creek thereâs a wood play set for kids - wonderful.
Thanks for sharing this gem, Kerry!
