We booked this property for a few days for a nice quiet getaway to celebrate our anniversary. The property is absolutely stunning, picturesque views in every direction. The house is located just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be calm and quiet. But just a few minutes drive from pretty much everywhere. The house was spacious, spotless, and had all the amenities we needed and more. We will definitely be booking another trip here soon!
We enjoyed this lovely home on the water. The house was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The setting was very pretty with the water views. The house is on a main road and we could hear some traffic noise but only outside the home. The house was set back far enough that I was not worried about my dog being near the road. We enjoyed peaceful kayaking one evening. It was about 3 miles from St Michaelâs and close enough to walk to The Chesapeake Landing Restaurant, which came in handy when we wanted dinner but did not want to drive far. I would definitely go back there.
The property was great - super cute and welcoming. It was a little hard to find (the directions should say that its the second mailbox after the restaurant on the left; that would be helpful). Its also part of two houses on the same property. We didn't have any issues while we were there with our neighbors but it was a little un-nerving to realize there was a second property there (we were aware of the shared dock, just not the shared driveway). The home was decorated meticulously - we had fun grilling, cooking, and enjoying the slower week. Overall, it was a great, quiet week. A list of all the restaurants in town would be great. I recommend coming with slightly older kiddos as our toddler was inquisitive but had a hard time understanding the stairs. Make sure you check the kayaks - they were fun to use but one was missing a plug in the back (my husband didn't sink but he sure took on a lot of water). Enjoy this quiet little gem!
This is a tough review. Every aspect of the stay was first rate, with the exception of road noise most times of the day (not much at night) because the house is located perhaps 100 yards from Rt. 33, which at that location has 40-55 mph traffic, some of it pretty noisy. The house itself is well-insulated from most of the noise, but we are sensitive to noise in an otherwise idyllic location, and the ongoing background car noise detracted from enjoyment of the attractive outdoor areas. The good news is that the house itself is perfect for a small group: cozy and spotless; very well furnished; well equipped (although we did no cooking ourselves); very comfortable (including the beds); excellent HVAC, bathrooms, showers and hot water; and only a short ride into St. Michaels. We appreciated the use of comfortable and attractive furnishings, with a sense of style, which are often lacking in many short term rentals. The property manager was very responsive -- responses to inquiries often arrived within 2 or 3 minutes -- but VRBO's forced use of email for messaging was cumbersome. The backyard is a well-kept large grassy area from the house to Harris Creek, and great for kids, dogs, and bird watching. It would be lovely for adults hanging out, especially in mornings and evenings, but for the car noise issue. If you are not bothered by a hum of traffic the background, you'll enjoy the place without reservation. Even with that issue, the pluses may well rate a return in the future.
