Our stay at this hotel was spoiled by having our room downgraded on arrival. Although we booked and paid for a double room with a balcony we ended up with an dingy economy room without a balcony or anywhere to sit except the bed. All we got in compensation was an apology and some vouchers to use in the buffet dining hall (which only used a couple of times, as not much of a dining experience). So be warned. Might be worth calling the hotel to check they have your room before travelling. The room was bad enough that we ended up cutting our holiday short. For the aforementioned reason we would not choose to stay at this hotel again. However the area around the hotel feels safe and there are numerous eating options available close by. Food and drink prices were surprisingly reasonable even in the hotel. The hotel's Italian restaurant is very good and the staff there are excellent. There is also a sports bar linked to the hotel across the road from the lobby where you can get food from the hotel and watch a choice of sports channels. Staff again very friendly and helpful. The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk downhill along the main road and is quite busy when you get there. There are also public buses you can catch either way if you don't fancy the walk back (uphill) or if you want to explore the island. The were sunbeds at the hotel's pools but there is limited space for a large hotel so a bit crowded in with other guests for my liking and we were not in high season.

Upon arriving at the hotel in the evening, we discovered that there were no rooms available for us in the two rooms we'd booked months in advance. This was very disappointing! We spent our first night at the Best Western, a 15-minute drive away. Our hotel compensated for this inconvenience by offering us a free breakfast. The next day, we get a room, and because it was my birthday, a surprise awaited me in the room: a beautifully decorated bed, a cookie, and wine. This completely stole my heart. The guests were mostly elderly. The rooms facing the street were a bit noisy. The pools were great. The breakfast was excellent. Be careful with the parking lot. The entrance was very dangerous, only for experienced drivers and small cars.

Our Worst Stay

Worst stay of out month long trip. Room 514 was claustrophobic with a small window looking out to a building with a hot air vent blowing upward. Smelled of mold. Had to access room from another building. Two elevators and a walk underground through a moldy smelling tunnel. Bathroom was good, Fridge was ok. Bed ok. Desk staff was curt and unfriendly. Should have asked for another room for the price point.

Great location for public transport. Room was quite small for 2 people including luggage but we really only used it to sleep in so managed fine. It was cleaned everyday to some degree including fresh towels. Plenty of food options within walking distance. The adults only pool area was great. Breakfast had lots to choose from. Wouldn’t stay all staff were super friendly but the majority were.

Family of four with two children: We were quite impressed that our room was cleaned everyday, the staff even folded our clothes neatly - we didn't leave any clothes lying around after this because we felt we were giving them extra work. The receptionists were very attentive. The rooftop restaurant had fantastic views - a bit pricey but we ate there twice because of the view. Our only concern is that the pool towels smelled a bit funky, i think because the wet towels are left for a while before being laundered but you can always bring your own towels if you want. Pool could be improved to be more child friendly - it was mostly deep so the children did not have a lot of space. No slides or anything like that. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of selection and always topped up. Tables cleared efficiently. It's near mellieha bay which is our most favoured beach (we liked this more than golden bay) very clear water and no rocks! It's also near popeye village which is great. Overall very lovely stay for the price we paid (this was cheaper than other hotels but the quality and service was great) it's definitely worth it.
