Staff was fantastic and good food for breakfast and dinner. Very pleasant experience. But the area is pretty remote and would love to have more transportation options around the area. But still accessible via public transportation and very fun.
I should have booked 2 nights to really enjoy! Everything was excellent. My 1st time in Japan and this was lovely. Staff checking me in spoke great English.
I booked a huge tatami room and had a balcony overlooking the river. There is a turn-down service while you’re at dinner.
Buffet was fantastic and the whiskey was not watered down at all! Definitely try the sesame ball things for desert.
There are clear English instructions on how to use the onsens and an app that shows you how crowded they are in real time. Wonderfully comfortable sleeping here. I’d love to stay 2 nights in the future, maybe check out Edo Wonderland. The hotel gift shop is a good place to buy nicer, regional souvenirs.
Excellent customer service: 100 out of 10.
Just watch a couple videos on how the limited express trains work & the Kinugawa hotel busses & you’ll be fine.
Attractive retro look of first floor and large room! Good selection of food options and the pretty view from the room. Enjoyed wearing the complimentary yukata and jacket.
A traditional Japanese room and food. This is where the locals go... and we enjoyed it for that reason. Listening to the river all night long was delightful. It was a wonderful experience!
Breakfast was nice! Not like the old days, but good. Dinner, ok, but prime rib needs consume gravy. Bit more flavor, but for buffet and organization, service, excellent. Still in great condition, at least in our tower on 8th floor. Onsen nice but water tepid outside, could be tad warmer inside.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Amazing visit.

Amazing hotel with very kind staff. We were treated like royalty the moment we pulled up in our car. The whole arrival and checkin process was very efficient, and the we were offered drinks and snacks in the lounge. The buffet had a good variety of high quality food. The Onsens were very nice and well maintained. The room was very basic and quite dated (probably hasn’t changed much since the 90 s) but this didn’t bother us as they focus on service and quality overall. We really only slept in the room and spent the rest of the time exploring the area. Overall great stay and we’d definitely come back.
Most things were good but considering we had a Western room, so many signs in the room were in Japanese only. All the Onsen , shops in the hotel and even outside the hotel especially a Tuesday were closed. There was no where to even buy a glass of water from 9am till 2pm. We couldn’t even book a family Onsen.
Unfortunately the food and entertainment was the same when we were there for 3 nights in a row.
The pillows were the worst I have ever slept on.
The room were very clean but dated. Wifi was good. Staff were good.
Buffet was excellent with an enormous array of food.
Private onsen was approx ¥3300 for 45minutes.
There is quite a lot to do around the local area, we stayed one night but easily could have filled in two days.
A large hotel with extensive spa facilities, great buffet breakfast and dinner options and extremely helpful staff. The building and rooms are a bit dated, need a modern upgrade.
This place was much different than I expected, it was a bit dated but the Japanese style room was very comfortable! And also the beds were comfy, we slept so well! The staff was incredible even though we had a language barrier and only a few of the staff members spoke English, it worked out totally great! Dinner and breakfast was included into our stay which was a nice surprise! It was incredible! We got to try little bites of Japanese cuisine which we otherwise would have not. They also had a few western bites as well! We were overwhelmed with amount of options and everything was delicious!
We were about 40 minutes away from Nikko but it was easy to get around, took a taxi a couple times to get the train station early, buses doesn’t run continuously here. We had a lovely time and also used the private baths which were really nice!
Upon check in, requested taxis for the next morning for our party of 11 but none were available due it being a weekend. Front desk staff arranged for the hotel bus to take us.
